Tampico Fruit Drink

I saw a display of this stuff at an exporter store, there was a gallon (About litres) of something called Tropical Fruit Punch for $3.99, I thought that was really cheap and picked up the bottle and saw it had all these chemicals and fake colours in it. Less than 1% juice, honestly what is this shit.

.

We have dodgy fruit juices here, but this stuff looked like something by the Monsanto corporation. Looking it up on the web, I saw it is considered a ghetto product aimed at the poor. First Suave shampoo and now this, are we bcoming a dumping ground for ghetto products.

.

Does anyone drink Tampico or like it, or what do you think of it. We have Raro here which is like fruitier kool aid (The fruit was grown in Rarotonga Cook Islands in the past hence the name, but most of our juices are at least 10% fruit juice and most are pure. I can't imagine Tampico selling well outside of the poor hood communities.

Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name

It's HUGE in the Hispanic community, kind of their version of Sunny Delight. I actually like the taste, but can only drink maybe half a glass...waaay too sweet...but it's perfect when you add vodka. nod

Make it so, Number One...

What is Sunny delight? Another budget orange drank?

.

Hispanic community, that's why its called Tampico after Tampico in Mexico.

.

Is Tampico also popular amongst other races too?

Just looked at Sunny D, it was originally Sunny Delight and when in 1998 it was released in the UK as a big sales hit in a few months, until a 4 year old Welsh girl turned orange after drinking a 1.5 litre bottle of the stuff each day (The mother should be had for child abuse). The drink was relabelled and sales in the UK slumped. To make matters worse an ad for it showing a snowman turning orange was considered bad taste. The girls orange colour was caused by betacarotene food colouring.

.

This drink has double the amount of actual juice (2% versus 1% for Tampico), and its main ingresient on the American site is sugar and water followed by dozens of artificial colours and flavours. It is not juice but a chemarine of sugar water and a Dr Cagliaris chest of dangerous ingredients and additives.

.

Such concoctions are banned here and must be sold as soft drinks rather than juices.

At the end of the day, if you want real juice, buy the real organic fruits themselves. You can use a Vitamix or a Ninja blender to place the fruits in and blend it into juice.

If you really want to go old-school, then get a juicer to make freshly squeezed orange juice or grapefruit juice. cool
