‘The Walking Dead’ Spoilers About Carol, Morgan, And Negan’s Victim

Treva Bowdoin

Warning: Spoilers about The Walking Dead TV series and comic books are ahead.

.

Walking Dead fans have plenty of lives to fear for when the show returns on February 14. Daryl Dixon and his group definitely didn’t have the upper hand when viewers last saw them facing off with Negan’s men, pregnant Maggie was stuck on a platform surrounded by walkers, Glenn looked like he was contemplating risking his life to save his wife, Denise got kidnapped by a Wolf, and Sam risked getting his entire family killed, as well as that of Rick Grimes, when he suddenly turned into Stewie from Family Guy by saying “Mom” over and over again.

.

The last time fans of The Walking Dead saw Carol Peletier, she was one of the few characters who wasn’t in immediate danger – she had sustained a head injury, but there were no walkers, Wolves, or Saviors trying to kill her. The Spoiling Dead Fans confirms that Carol will survive the midseason premiere of The Walking Dead, but Melissa McBride’s beloved character is going to run into some big trouble in a future episode.

.

Carol and Morgan’s fight over a Wolf’s life ended very badly during The Walking Dead midseason finale. The two survivors have very different philosophies when it comes to dealing with dangerous enemies during the zombie apocalypse, so most Walking Dead fans would assume that they’d be better off spending as little time together as possible. However, it’s been confirmed that viewers will get to see more of Carol and Morgan’s oil-and-water interactions during the Season 6 finale of The Walking Dead. If Carol doesn’t make Morgan start to rethink his whole “all life is precious” mantra, she might just lose her life.

On Sunday, the Spoiling Dead Fans shared a description of a Walking Dead finale scene involving Morgan, Carol, and an unidentified armed man.

“There was a scene filmed that involved Carol, Morgan, and a couple of unknown characters. One mystery male character points his gun at someone,” the description reads. “It’s unclear if this man actually shoots the gun or not. Morgan is also involved in this scene. He was seen circling over someone (possibly Carol). He has a conversation with the man with the gun and then leans over the person on the ground. This was a well blocked off scene so it’s not completely clear what was happening. Witnesses did see Carol pop up at some point. Carol looked a little roughed up. The right side of her face looked either very dirty or bruised. It’s believed that she may have been kneeling or laying on the ground.”

.

Perhaps Morgan will be forced to make a tough choice that will have a huge effect on the way fans of The Walking Dead feel about his character: Will he kill someone to save Carol’s life, or will he let her die simply to avoid getting blood on his hands?

.

Luckily for fans of Carol, the creator of The Walking Dead will likely fight to keep her alive as long as possible. Last year at New York Comic Con, Robert Kirkman revealed that he doesn’t want TV Carol to go the way of her comic book counterpart.

.

“The Carol that’s in the comic was my attempt to show just how broken an individual can become from the zombie apocalypse,” Kirkman said, according to Vulture. “The Carol in the show, which is a much better character let’s be honest, actually is made stronger by all the more horrible things that happen to her in the show. Killing her would definitely not… we can’t do that.”

.

Even though fans of The Walking Dead have good reason to be worried about Carol and Morgan, at least the duo wasn’t filming scenes with Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s Negan. In the comic books, poor Glenn meets his grisly end when Negan randomly chooses a member of Rick Grimes’ group to kill with his beloved Lucille, a baseball bat wrapped with barbed wire. Many Walking Dead fans believe that the powers-that-be will switch things up for the TV series, and there’s been some speculation that Morgan, Abraham, or Daryl will fill in for Glenn when stealer-of-stuff Negan makes his long-awaited debut. According to Cleveland.com, footage from the Walking Dead finale has already leaked that shows Jeffrey Dean Morgan using Lucille to bash out the brains of an unknown character, so someone isn’t going to survive Season 6.

.

If Morgan and Carol spend most of the Season 6 finale dealing with their own assailants, this means that they won’t be in the lineup of characters that Negan plays a deadly game of “Eenie Meenie Miney Mo” with. This is bad news for the Glenn, Abraham, and Daryl fans who had hoped that Morgan would be the “precious” life that Negan takes in the finale.

.

The Walking Dead returns to AMC on February 14, 2016. You can check out the latest Season 6

‘The Walking Dead’ Season 6: Will Negan Be As Good As In The Comics Or Will The Governor Reign Supreme?

Rachel Tsoumbakos

Negan is the one character on The Walking Dead that many have been both eagerly anticipating, as well as fearing the most. He is one of the most iconic characters from the comics and his reputation precedes him — even for those who are not Walking Dead comic book fans. So just how will AMC cope with bringing Negan to life?

.

SPOILER ALERT: This article contains information about The Walking Dead comic books as well as upcoming scenes, story lines, and characters in season 6 of the television version of The Walking Dead. Please proceed with caution if you wish to avoid spoilers.

.

As has been anticipated, Negan will show up just in time for the season 6 finale of The Walking Dead. After much hype over who would take on the iconic role, Jeffrey Dean Morgan was cast. However, as the recent trailer shows, the people surrounding him will show up a lot earlier. This build up is where AMC excels. So will Negan turn out to be more hype, and less villain, once he finally arrives? According to the showrunner, Scott M. Gimple, the short answer is, no.

“[Negan] just kills, and it doesn’t bother him. He’s the star of his own movie and we’re all Red Shirts,” Gimple recently told TVLine.

.

image: http://cdn.inquisitr.com/...70x356.jpg

Negan as he appears in the comic book version of The Walking Dead.
[Image Credit: Image]But, while Negan is feared, he will be a new sort of terror to greet The Walking Dead, as Gimple explained when asked to compare Negan with the other baddie fans loved to hate: The Governor.
.

“In my opinion, The Governor is more despicable and damaged. Negan is terrifying in that he isn’t a psychopath. He’s charismatic and funny. And even sort of friendly… He’s not nuts. But you can’t reason with him because he’s got it all worked out… Negan also has a bizarre sense of empathy. He actually recognizes your bad luck in you running into him, yet it doesn’t change a damn thing.”

.

Of course, with the arrival of Negan, many fans are certain this will signify the death of one of The Walking Dead’s longest standing — and, arguably, most loved — character: Glenn Rhee (played by Steven Yeun). And, considering how many times Glenn has managed to encounter a baseball bat in previous seasons of The Walking Dead (both on friendly, and not so friendly terms), many fans are arguing that the foreshadowing of Glenn’s death by Negan has been happening for quite some time now.

.

image: http://cdn.inquisitr.com/...70x448.jpg

Glenn Rhee (Steven Yeun) brandishes a base ball bat in AMC's The Walking Dead.
[Image Credit: AMC/Gene Page]While AMC can, at times, follow the storyline from the comic books the TV show is based on quite closely, there are many times when they stray quite far from the original source material. Sometimes they have even gone so far to have substituted the death of one character with the death of another character.
.

image: http://cdn.inquisitr.com/...70x376.jpg

Glenn Rhee (Steven Yeun) nearly dies in the season 5 premiere if AMC's The Walking Dead.
[Image Credit: AMC/screen capture]So is Glenn safe?

Probably for the remainder of season 6, at least. If AMC does want to follow the comics with this storyline, Negan has to show up first in order for Glenn to encounter the foul-mouthed Negan. But, someone else could, in all honesty, replace Glenn when it comes time to have their head caved in with Lucille, the baseball bat Negan has so lovingly encased in barbed-wire.

.

That certainly could be a possibility, however, Gimple points out that, for fans watching The Walking Dead who have also read the comics, it is more of a “psychological game” when it comes to planning ahead for storylines in the show now. After so long watching the show and learning how AMC and their writers shake things up, it might be time for fans to finally get a storyline that follows the comic book faithfully — or not. Scott M. Gimple was very clear in just how unclear he wanted to reveal things involving Negan’s storyline in season 6, and beyond, of The Walking Dead, first stating, “If it isn’t going to be like that, then what is going to happen? I doubt it’s going to involve flowers.

.

The fact that he’s coming is not going to mean great stuff for Rick’s group.” He then raised the point that if AMC does stick to the Negan storyline from the comics, fans might not actually see that coming as AMC tend to “mix things up” more than they used to.

.

In addition to the Glenn storyline, another aspect of Negan that is often talked about is his colorful language. While AMC often shows explicit horror and gore, foul language is something not allowed in accordance with FCC guidelines. And, with the arrival of Negan, this might be set to change. In a recent interview with Forbes, Jeffrey Dean Morgan admits that in order to maintain the integrity of the Negan character, AMC will have to push the boundaries a little.

.

“The plan is to push [AMC] as far as they can because it’s who Negan is… It’s our intention that this character is going to leap off the pages of the comic book. It’s very important that that’s who it is.”

.

Either way, regardless of what AMC has to say about the upcoming storylines for Negan, his arrival will signify very bad things to come for Rick and his group in upcoming seasons of The Walking Dead.

.

^ i'm afraid they ARE going to kill glenn, otherwise, why would maggie be bawling out his name like that in the teaser promo? GLEENNNNNNN!!!!!!!

.

then again, daryl got his own new show so maybe it will be him. really, i would hate to see any of the characters go, except morgan. which is weird because i really liked him up until he became a peace pussy and mishandled the wolf affair. buit imo, morgan's philosophy is a really really bad idea for their world.

.

maybe the deadun will be poor little sam. i hate to see kids die on this show but they either survive... or they don't. wondering how the group will deal with sam's mom? mom? MOM??!! bit? did anyone bring duct tape for his mouth? poor little guy

.

i'm looking forward to february 14, but from what i've heard about the evil negan character it will be really grim to watch.

Tovah Feldshuh, who plays Deanna Monroe on AMC’s The Walking Dead, talks about what makes her character a hero in the Season 6 Mid-Season Finale.

Q: Since Rick‘s group arrived, Alexandria has seen a number of disasters. Do you think that’s the new arrivals’ fault?

A: I think the world of the walkers is to blame for it. We’re not a trained army yet. We’re intellectual and we’re people who believe in culture and order. We’ve had a lucky trip where we were able to organize our society without any walkers in our midst. It was an unbelievable blessing, so we were blessed, but we weren’t stupid. It’s like taking new soldiers who have never fought a war. It’s Darwinism – it’s not the most intelligent or strongest who survive, but the most adaptable. Rick has got to get us to adapt, and I think he does.

Q: What did you initially make of Rick and Deanna’s relationship? How did that change towards the end?

A: Well, Deanna is “due process of law” and Rick is “swift justice.” He simply couldn’t afford due process of law when he comes across a murderer. Deanna allowed Pete to live and what did she get? Well, he killed her husband. Her last words, “Rick, do it” were a relinquishment of her due process of law. No trial by jury, no verdict, no incarceration – just swift justice. That’s the only way they were able to figure out how to survive. I don’t think Rick is a criminal at all. He’s terribly loyal.

Q: Deanna was completely shaken by her husband’s and child’s deaths. What was it that shook her out of her stupor?

A: It was the people who needed her as well as Maggie, her mentee and protégé. It was the greater good that drove Deanna. “What is the greatest good for the greatest amount of people?” is a question that is often asked by good leaders. That’s what pulls her towards heroism. She could no longer be a hollowed out shell of a leader. There’s definitely a shift in power in Season 6, though. She recognizes that Rick knows how to handle these things and she’s a novice at this.

Q: Do you believe she had any regrets?

A: I think she just desperately wanted to live, but unfortunately, death shows no favorites.

Q: What does it say about Deanna that she insisted on ending her own life, and used her final bullets on walkers?

A: She became a warrior because of the extreme circumstances that surrounded her and the terrible demands that are made of every human being who wants to live in this post-apocalyptic world. Her last moments were truly heroic. I’m very proud of her.

Q: What legacy is she leaving behind for the others? Can you talk about those final moments with Michonne?

A: Deanna invites Michonne to find out what she wants in this world and what cause she wants to dedicate herself to. She must find a cause greater than herself. She must find her purpose and pursue it heavily, so she can live not just a long, but a meaningful life. She also wants everyone to never give up on the possibility that civilization will one day dominate the Earth again.

Q: Do you feel the two crews have finally merged now?

A: I think those who can survive in Alexandria will become part of Rick’s crew and those who are decent in Rick’s crew will continue to learn from the Alexandrians – maybe not on the fields, but maybe inside the walls.

Q: If you were a member of Alexandria, what role would personally suit you best?

A: A professor of humanities to show the intellectual light at the end of this dark tunnel. That would be perfect for me. Unfortunately, I’d have to have guns on me to get to and from my school, but I would love to teach the young about what existed before this happened and what can exist in the future.

Q: Will you be watching to see what’s next for Alexandria?

A: Totally. I’m invested. The day after my big episode on The Walking Dead, I make my singing debut on a musical comedy called Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. I’m looking forward to that easing the pain!
