The LA Times says if the Chargers give a flat out no on moving to LA then the Raiders get the deal offered to the Chargers by the Rams. I think the Chargers if they don't leave immediately are going to take their year option, I doubt they'd give a definite no at this point. But who knows they may have preferred the deal they made with the Raiders and Carson, it seemed to be more in line with their best financial interest. In this instance the Rams own the new stadium.

I have to say - we were without the NFL in Houston for almost a decade. And to be honest, almost no one missed it. It was nice to get a franchise again, but the quality of life in Houston was certainly not affected at all when we didn't have a team.

kpowers said: I hope no other team moves to LA. Well at least the Rams will travel less for division games now. Now there is talk about the NFL having a team in London, then if that is the case St. Louis should be awarded the other team that comes into the league. I read that the Chargers and Raiders get a $100mil each incentive to stay in their prespctive cities. There's a $1.1bil stadium on the table for the Chargers to get them to stay, but Oakland isn't promising anything to the Raiders. Who knows.

#BREAKING The Chargers have applied for trademarks for the terms "Los Angeles Chargers" and "LA Chargers." The application to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office was filed Thursday, two days after National Football League owners gave the Chargers a one-year window to enter into an agreement with the Rams to share a future stadium in Inglewood. The application, first reported by the Los Angeles Times, was filed by the Chargers Football Company and lists NFL lawyer Anastasia Danias as the attorney of record. The trademark would cover a wide range of products, including helmets, visual recordings, video game software, jewelry, posters, trading cards and toys, among many other items. The Internet addresses losangeleschargers.com and lachargers.com are already taken by an organization called Blowout Inc. The website claims to be a "fan site for fans by fans" that's not affiliated with the team. However, the only content is an embedded video posted Dec. 6 of the Chargers' and Oakland Raiders' plan to build a stadium in Carson, which owners ultimately rejected. Representatives of the Chargers and Rams met Monday, but the two sides agreed not to discuss their negotiations publicly. It was unclear when or if they will meet again. Meanwhile, officials with the city and county of San Diego have reiterated their offer to build a playing facility in Mission Valley to replace Qualcomm Stadium, paid for with a mix of public and private money, or consider another locations the Chargers might prefer. Chargers Chairman Dean Spanos said after a meeting of owners last week that he would take time to consider his options.

The mayor of Los Angeles won't be advocating for the addition of a second NFL team. Instead, Eric Garcetti says he would like to see the Chargers stay in San Diego. "We'd welcome any team to come here, but I love the idea of a great rivalry to the south," Garcetti said Wednesday. "We wish them luck." "We talked about bringing the Super Bowl here every four or five years," Garcetti said. "We're looking at the Final Four. Also, this wasn't part of our Olympic bid. Now we can add this to the bid. It's huge. It says to the world that you can do a sustainable Olympics and be cost sensitive." Los Angeles has replaced Boston as the United States' Olympic city candidate. Los Angeles is competing with Hamburg, Germany; Rome, Italy; Budapest, Hungary and Paris, France. The International Olympic Committee will choose a site by vote in Lima, Peru, in September 2017.

It would be weird having the Raiders here. But it's possible.
No more "San Diego, Super Chargers. San Diego. Chargers, Go" songs. Weird. 55 years is a long time. If they leave it's way more going on than the fans know, they're pissed about something. Ok, we know the stadium's most of it but there has to be more. But hey, they know it took what 20 years to get a new Main Library built, they know how slow we move here. This moving out of a small town mentality is hard stuff. Ok, it's the spending money part that's the issue but hey, it's still hard.

It seemed like the city had a love affair with the Oilers. I loved the Steelers-Oilers rivalry. It was one of the best in football. It seemed like once the owner asked for a new stadium and didn't get his wishes from the city the football fans turned on him and quit attending. I enjoyed watchimng Earl Campbell, Billy "White Shoes" Johnson, and Earnest Givins over the years. The Oilers situation reminded m of the initial Charlotte Hornets incarnation when owner Geoge Shinn wanted a new arena and the city said no so he announced he was taking the team to New Orleans and he was villainized in the city. Supposedly....
Statement from Dean SpanosFriday, January 29, 2016 2:44 PM PST
Dear Chargers Fans,
Today I decided our team will stay in San Diego for the 2016 season and I hope for the long term in a new stadium.
I have met with Mayor Faulconer and Supervisor Roberts and I look forward to working closely with them and the business community to resolve our stadium dilemma. We have an option and an agreement with the Los Angeles Rams to go to Inglewood in the next year, but my focus is on San Diego.
This has been our home for 55 years, and I want to keep the team here and provide the world-class stadium experience you deserve.
Everyone on both sides of the table in San Diego must now determine the best next steps and how to deploy the additional resources provided by the NFL.
I am committed to looking at this with a fresh perspective and new sense of possibility.
With deep appreciation for your years of support,
Dean A. Spanos
Chairman

Interesting the words world-class, SD is a really nice city but I liked it better when it was just a little navy town and wasn't trying to take it's place on the world stage, but life must move forward, what will be will be.

So everything is pretty final? It's just gonna be the Rams? I don't see the Raiders coming back for any reason.
