Still doing 100 push ups a day, and ramped it up to 2 sets of 50. I do them the very first thing in the morning. It's been fun and I am pretty much pumped all day, every day. I even do the push ups on workout days. It doesn't seem to affect the bench press; it's more like a warm-up. Although last night, I got in a late workout, benched really hard, and then did push ups this morning. THAT was a little tougher, but not as tough as Sunday's push ups, which followed a blowout Saturday night.
My birthday is next week and I'm scheduling my workouts to do a max bench on my birthday. I did 316 pounds the other day and am looking for at least that much next week, if not a little more.

I tried that recently and I think I got to about 60-65... That was a little disappointing for me. But maybe I didn't structure the sets the right way. I'll try again and I think I should just keep at it until I crack the 100!

You'll get there, no doubt!
I did 3 sets @ 33/33/34 reps for all of last month and most of this month.
It's all about time, IMO. Right now, I do 2 sets of 50 in the same total time that I did the 3 sets as listed above. My goal is to reduce the total time and the only way to do that is to reduce the rest time between the sets. So what I do is time the rest between sets, and try to take a little off it every so often.
At the start, I think it is a good idea to do, say, 5 sets of 20 reps and time the rest interval, and also the total time it takes to do 100 reps. Then, when you get the rest interval down to, let's say half of what it is right now, try changing it to 3 sets total.
When you can do 3 sets with minimal rest in between set, try going to 50 reps per set. That's how I did it.
And you don't have to start with 100-rep workouts. You can start with any number of total reps, broken up into whatever segments works.
My best advice (ARE YOU LISTENING PURPLEJEDI?!?) is to start low so that you don't get sore in the beginning. Getting sore is the biggest enemy working out has IMO - especially at the beginning of a program, and double especially if it's something like push ups that you might want to do every day. I think we're way better off starting out with what seems ridiculously easy, and then building up.
Since I fail to be consistent with my training, I cancelled the personal trainer. Too much money for something that I wasn't devoting my full attention to.
On Wednesday I participated in a "Boot Camp" (free) class at my gym. I thought that I was ready for it (having trained off & on for a year with a PT), but boy was I ever wrong! This class thoroughly kicked my @ss! By the end of the class, I was barely moving.
Two days later, I am sore as heck.
SO...I am going to do it again next week!!!

Does anyone here know the Athlean-X program, respectively the YouTube channel? Jeff Cavaliere is a personal fitness trainer and physiotherapist and he offer lots and lots of great ans insightful video on YouTube. Very in-depth on nutrition, training, exercises, joints and so on.

Alright! Yesterday was my birthday and I did my workout yesterday morning. But.....ummmmm.....I also did mytradtional open mic night performance the night before that. And.....uhhhhhh......I didn't get on until 11:00 PM. And.....well.......I drank a lot of wine before I played. Then.....ahhhhh........we stayed at the restaurant until 12:30 AM, because it was fun and the players were great and they kept giving me wine.
So suffice to say that boogying all night and getting 6 hours' sleep and waking up surely hungover was NOT how I'd planned for my Birthday Workout.
BUT SCREW ALL THAT!
I hit the gym, told myself I felt great, and benched 326 pounds. I didn't look hungover in that Facebook video, did I?!? (NOTE: I was.)
So I begin The Year of Being 57 only 5 pounds shy of my all-time bench record, and feeling super great about hitting my goal of a 350-pound bench press by the end of June.
Oh yeah - I'm still doing 100 push ups every day, so I'm up to 4,200 push ups for 2016. I did the 100 yesterday after the bench press. Those were the hardest 100 of the year so far!

Today is the 50th day of the year, which means I have now done 5,000 push ups in 2016.
I'm really digging this push up deal. I don't think my upper body has ever been this pumped, cut and defined. And it stays that way all day, every day. Especially my shoulders - I am really seeing some gains there.
I know the advice has always been to rest for a day between workouts, but doing push ups every day has sure given me great results.

No, not really. But I'm not lazy either, I run and/or go to the gym. At the moment I actually have a bit of soreness in my byceps, which I usually find very hard to get.

Just got back from a work out. Today, I took the NFL 225-pound-bench-press test. All NFL rookies have to bench 225 as many times as they can. The NFL record is 51 reps, but two WWE wrestlers (Mark Henry and Ryback) put 225 up 53 times a couple years ago, which stands as the world record.
The NFL has rep ranges for each position, so you can compare yourself to players at various positions. "Am I as strong as a defensive back? Linebacker?" etc.
Today, I got 225 up 20 times. That equates to running-back level strength. I really want to get to linebacker strength, so I need to squeeze 5 more reps.
I think the hardest part though is to reduce the bodyfat percentage without simply getting scinny... Son of a bitch.
Fortunately, I have almost never had that situation but that means I don't really know what to do about it. But I will say that the most buff dudes I see at the gym are the Cross-Fit guys. Maybe that's a good program for addressing body fat?

I just saw that I spelled "skinny" rather funny... Yes, I guess HIIT works best. I read a bit about Cross-Fit and saw some videos, but I'm not sure if it's really safe, to be honest. A lot of the movements seem to be contrary against what you would usually hear is proper form and so on... I think I'd rather try something like boxing or kickboxing. Or calisthenics actually, because I think that really helps with posture, body control, flexibility and all that. I should measure my body fat percentage sometime, I really don't know what it'd say... I guess around 18-19% maybe. Especially concentrating in this typical ring around the belly and at the back, the "love handles"... 14-15% would be great.
The Rodeo starts tomorrow. Twenty straight days of concerts, booze, parties, booze, fattening food, and booze.
I'll do my push-ups every morning, but workouts might be hard to squeeze in. I was hoping to get in my last pre-rodeo workout tonight but it's not looking good. Still at the office with no end in sight.

I can't imagine what rodeo is. But have a lot of fun.
I will try to get back on track and seriously pick up my running schedule.
Next year I will skate that Elfstedentocht!
