Have you ever experienced people who are constantly complaining about mistreatment done to them by others? i mean the person who no matter how you try to lift their spirit with positive feed back never seem to see the bright side of their life.

then after you've listened to the negative person you feel drained and completely tired.

some have said the listener may have been the victime of a "psychic vampire."

the psychic vampire falls under several different types. i've posted one of the many types below.

My question is, why are there so many of them? I mean it does come down to supply and demand.


Oh and yes I think in a manner of speaking there is such a phenomena. Just like being around some people their energy electrifies you.

The ones that irk me the most are the excessively needy ones who think the world owes them something and refuse to do anything at all to help themselves but always crying woe is me. The truth is they just triflin' as hell.

I think it exists too. What I can't fathom is the ones who are happier trying to bring other people down to their level rather than strive to empower themselves.

Several years ago I wasted too much time in a relationship with a guy like that.

There are definitely people who revel in negative attention, and giving them that kind of attention definitely brings you down.

But they aren't real vampires nor do they have any paranormal psychic abilities. They're just drags.

A part of me feels the world needs those types to push some other types forward but the increasing numbers are becoming a problem, there is only so much energy to go around before it becomes self-deprivating. The herd probably needs to be culled to bring back balance in life.

For a few years I've been sensing that an increasing level of dark energy has been gradually encroaching upon us. I think that these things are cyclical and I wish we would teach people to have a better understanding of how we are impacted and equip them with better coping skills.

The profusion of all manner of pop culture media featuring zombies and vampires and such on some level seems like an expression of our collective subconscious acknowledgement of that energy.

a few years back,

a friend of mine had an experience with this lady/co-worker at her job. the job was product marketing job within a very large computer retail store.

anyway as it would be, she and the lady worked closely with the patrons at the store's front desk. sometimes there were lulls as far as store patron traffic.

this lady (as shared with me) would talk, non stop during the lulls. she'd be all talking 'bout all the wrongs via her family, her past jobs, her ex-husband and etc. the lady never gave room for any type of reply from my friend.

finally my friend called me for a (sisterly) vent session about this lady. she told me how she felt as though she had reindeer bells ringing inside her head after having to listen to her during the eight hr shift. she best described it as how ones ears ring after going to a super loud concert, you know that ringing sound.

she also added that she felt "drained" everytime she had to listen to this lady and how she was so tired whe she came home from work.

finally my friend told the lady, "please do not talk to me unless it's job related, etc."

(my friend said "she started feeling better" after she stopped having to listen to the lady.

a coupla weeks later i got a call from my friend and said she ran across an article about people who always talk negative and why she felt drained.

This may not be something that they say verbally, but internally this is something they seek and strive for. It makes them feel more comfortable.

re: the negativity these folks emit, i wonder if they know they are major drainers? one would want to give it the shadow of a doubt and think it's not so.

Yes, they do exist and they are often very close to you, i.e. colleagues, friends or romantic partners but I don´t see them as some sort of paranormal or unnatural beings. They´re just people who don´t know how to focus on better things and prefer dwelling in negativity.

There are certain colleagues at work that I´ve learned to avoid. I like them, they are actually nice people but they always, and I mean ALWAYS complain about this or that, and they not only waste my time but literally steal it by going on and on and on....to the point where I have to make up white lies just so I can leave them without being blunt and honest.

Then there is the kind of energy vampires that you often find when a relationship has gone on long enough to give you a better idea of how a person thinks, reacts, looks at life and treats you....and staying in that toxic relationship is often our own choice, for various reasons...and those are often the biggest energy vampires.

The third group are, at least in my opinion and in my day to day reality, ignorant people or people who are too lazy to think things through....for example people who have an uninformed opinion and who love to post their intellectual vomit in comments section or discussion boards, or certain news outlets like Glenn Beck and O´Reilly....I just tend to avoid them so I can continue living my life with acceptance for all kinds of views and people. The same goes for this website.
