The Hateful 8 is great. No Globe either. boo. It starts out as a traditional western, then it is a suspense thriller, then ends as a slasher film. wild.

I lasted about 20 minutes on Chi-raq before I gave up.

The Hateful 8 was just plain silly.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Best Star Wars movie since the original trilogy. I loved it, and despite what some may say about Kylo Ren, I think Adam Driver did a great job portraying him. I'm sad that it seems J.J. Abrams may not be directing the next movie in the series though

Carol (2015)

Really enjoyed this one. Rooney Mara gave a lights-out performance, second only to the grand dame, Cate Blanchett. One or both should be nominated for an Oscar. The cinematography was terrific. A great Christmas movie.

simon pegg and nick frost are my absolute FAVorite comic duo right now. watching anything/everything i can get by them. this story finds them as nerds attending comicon who rescue an escaping alien... laugh out loud silly. highly recommend!!!!!

I watched this, a time ago. It's a very nice movie.

^ i have a crush on pegg and frost. i'd vote for them to be in charge of the world. i think they have exactly the right qualifications, and life would become immeasurably more entertaining under their rule. just sayin. little new year's wish of mine.

Violet & Daisy 2 stars out of 5

It's Pulp Fiction with two teenaged girls as the killers. With James Gandolfini in a not quite believable role. You sort of have to suspend your disbelief, and even then this film is not so good.

On the last thread, I wrote this review of Hateful 8:

6 out of 10 stars. Tarantino's eighth film is a tale of vying motives and shaky allegiances as a mismatched group of bounty hunters and outlaws hunker down in a stagecoach stopover to survive a blizzard in Reconstruction-era Wyoming. Like Tarantino's underrated Death Proof, this narrative hangs on long stretches of dialogue peppered with brief bursts of violent payoff. Those payoffs feel considerably less impactful here, however, owing to a Reservoir Dogs-style cloud of uncivility that looms throughout the film, affecting an eventual numbness. The characters who'd most resonate with audiences are fleeting here, their screentime traded for that of the titular eight main characters, only about half of whom command any real interest. Surprisingly pedestrian showings by the usually impressive Michael Madsen and Tim Roth. Great work by Sam Jackson, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Channing Tatum and Walton Goggins, however.

Having now seen the film again on the big screen (I'd previously watched an online screener), I'm feeling a bit more generous about the climactic moments. The steady flow of testosterone does offer somewhat diminishing returns, but I suppose the magic of any Tarantino flick lies not in the fact we're eventually surprised by violence, but that we're somehow compelled to wait for it, knowing full well it's on its way. I also think some of the performances are a bit better than they initially came off, particularly those of Kurt Russell and Tim Roth. I'd nudge my star count up to 6.5 or 7 out of 10.

I thought this was very entertaining. The only quibble I can think of is the way the inflection on the key phrase was changed at the end. Wouldn't you say this was a cheat?

I saw this when it first came out. The only segments that I could name off the top of my head are the one with Winona Ryder and Gena Rowlands, and the one with Roberto Benigni (but I don't even remember the details of those).

Was this your first time seeing it? And what did you enjoy about it so much?

I used to really like Jarmusch - when I was younger. But now, when I think back on the films of his I've seen, I remember them as more style than substance. I don't recall them as having much "heart".

I've only seen Strangers in Paradise, Down by Law, Mystery Train, Night on Earth and Coffee & Cigarettes.

...Oh, I just remembered there's a segment with Beatrice Dalle as a blind woman?

As the lasts movies i have watched like that movie Sophie's Choice, i do not understand why this film is regarded as a great one, the story it's not that good; is a very preictable one, you already know from the first 20 minutes that the guy has serious issues with his childhood and parents, good acting but that's about it. 1.5/5

The Lord Of The Rings- The Two Whores

Another sacred overrated cow, i mean it's a wonderful visual effects kind of film, but the story it's not that interesting for me, but it's a very good film; be that as it may, i consider and overrated one. 3.5/5

Juno 2007

In someone else's hands this will have and over melodramatic approach, but it's not the case. It has his comedy moments, very little of drama and a unique story line. I love the end, they seemed to don't give a fuck abut their baby. 4/5

Last night I watched some of "The Pacifier". Don't ask me why. I don't know. It was horrible.

But it gives me the chance to wax philosophic on Vin Diesel. You know what?

I liked the Diesel in the "Fast and Furious" movies that I saw (numbers 1 and 7). He had like, 4 lines and that was it. Mostly he just looked like a badass and drove cool cars.

Well, it turns out that is all he's good at.

Man, he was so bad in this movie. He has charisma but he cannot act his way out of a paper bag.

I am at a crossroads as to whether he should be in an "Expendables" movie. He probably will be at some point, but Stallone needs to make sure he doesn't talk. Let him drive a tank, that would be alright.

I'm not a big Star Wars fan anymore and yes, it's practically Episode IV retold for a new generation, but I did enjoy seeing it. The reintroductions of the older characters were well-done and I liked that they were spread out for maximum effect. 4/5

It was kind of hot when Cate Blanchett unfastened her bathrobe while standing behind a seated Rooney Mara in their hotel room. I'll admit that.

A good cast elevates an otherwise conventional biopic. 3/5

I didn't notice that at all. I'll have to re-watch it. Isn't it like Hackman pieces together the conversation by combining tapes A, B and C? Damn, now I'll really have to go back to it.
