steering clear of crazy is really the best way to go whenever possible in my opinion. but when you absolutely have to go where you know there will be crazy, that's what permits are for. just my 2c

Yeah, pretty much all my life I've been taking public transportation, and it can definitely be a trip(and sometimes dangerous). About 6 months ago, i had to restrain this crazy woman who attacked another passenger(on the trolley). She assaulted the lady for no reason. Here in San Diego, the public transportation system seems fairly safe, but in the San Francisco Bay Area, it can be kinda rough. On a pretty frequent basis, people get assaulted(including the bus drivers), get their phones stolen, get shot at(not frequent at all), get stabbed, etc, while on the bus. In SD, even though there seems to be a number of mentally ill, drug addicted passengers, besides the incident i mentioned, I haven't had or seen any major problems.

What i do worry about though, is some nut shooting up a bus(or trolley) full of passengers. I hate to think about it, but its just a matter of time before it happens(in the USA).

I'd say it was smart you sized up the situation (3 against 1) and stepped away. "You lost it" but the incident could have taken a very bad turn. Riding the train can be compared to driving in "States", you have to ignore a lot of dumb-asses and keep it moving... it isn't worth it.

A whole lot of shit happens on trains; when I lived in NY and in Japan, groping was an issue.
