Spike Lee is deserving...But y'all wait until The 2016 Oscar ceremony.....Black folks producing and Hosting the show next year, but if you look at all the flicks/actors garnering early-Oscar Buzz there will be a repeat of ZERO nominations for Black Actors and behind the scenes Industry workers...

What did Sam Jackson say in the movie Jungle Fever?

"Black menz.....successful an' shit!" lol

Love this video. Spike is more than deserving of this honor. Should have gotten one for Malcolm X.

Wesley nailed that accent. If I didn't know better I would swear he was African. lol

Just seeing Spike up there with Wes, Sam and my baby Denzel did me all the good in the world.

Love Spike as a director. I esp. love what he said about the BLM movement and what they should really be about:

He doesn't ignore black-on-black crime, unlike some folks.

Beautiful! Thanks for sharing.

Spike Lee is in much better company. The best director award often goes to someone much easier swallowed and well known, like a famous actor.

Most of the greatest filmmakers are completely free Of Best Director Oscars, or at least until very late in their careers.

Most of them were probably too polarizing to win a popularity contest at the time. But how one is distinguished over time is far more important than awards that most of us will likely forget about any way.

Spike to me is clearly one of the greatest.

And perhaps the greatest of them all sitting in this club? Stanley Kubrick.

I have only seen Do the Right Thing, Jungle Fever, Malcolm X, He Got Game and The Original Kings of Comedy.

Do the Right Thing is my favorite. That is obviously a seminal film and I recall it as being masterful.

I miss the Ernest Dickerson shots.

That Halle Berry sure was a cutie-pie. ...I mean, she's obviously still a very beautiful woman. But she was so cute here.

I saw this so long ago - when it came out - that I didn't even know she was in it!

Her bit was small but really convincing as a crackhead. Wasn't she dating Wesley Snipes at the time and he beat her so bad, she lost her hearing? Ah....memories....
