Well it did seem that there were a few guys in long-term relationships that weren't bored. I assumed some of them lived with their partners based on how long they were together. Trolls be gone!

Thinking back to my dating years, I don't think I ever got tired of the particular girls I was with, they were all pretty hot. But in a couple of the longer lasting relationships I found I missed the thrill of the pursuit, putting myself out there & seeing if she'd go for it or not. There's just an inherent drama that goes with seduction... probably like the attraction to gambling. So, like having a gambling problem, somebody who is really, really into that thrill of pursuing someone new, could get bored after a time no matter who he's with or how fine she is. The movie Don Jon is partly about this... the guy leaves freakin' Scarlett Johannon alone in bed so he can go wank to internet porn, which he loves because he never has to "be with" the same girl twice.
I've been with my wife faithfully for 17 years now & don't see that changing anytime soon.

Not impossible... sometimes you get lucky (twice!) and find yourself falling into bed with someone who's a great match in other ways.
But if it's mainly based on sex after the first week or so, you could maybe overlook some red flags in the relationship and go forward with it even though it's obvious it won't work out long term.

It's normal. It's human. Nothing wrong with getting bored.
Unless you want, or already have children then you are stuck. But if you are single and happy, then there is no need to conform to someone else's norms and be stuck with the same person for the rest of your life. Especially so if you are young. Who in their right mind would saddle a 20 something year old with a lifelong commitment? As if a 20 something was prepared, in any way shape or form qualified for such a thing? It's unethical really, to push a 20 something y/o to commit to any such contract. Such a thing should only be done as a criminal sentence as punishment or in times past as enslavement. Or from an unfortunate accident...such as from unprotected sex or a car accident. Be safe, don't be promiscuous and have fun. Long term relationships are great, just don't think such a thing is forever and don't have a break down if things don't work out. You didn't invent all these old traditions or think you have to conform to them. Crazy is crazy and we don't have to live by other people's expectations. [Edited 12/26/15 16:03pm]
