For those of us getting ready to celebrate Thanksgiving in 2 days...

What are you eating???

Anyone making/eating something out-of-the-ordinary?

In my house, we were thinking of making tamales. (Alas, it's not going to work out)

Originally my kids were going to be with their mom so we were just going to make a perníl (roast pork loin). Now they're going to be with us, so I'm going to look for a turkey breast instead of a whole turkey, then maybe a baked ziti instead of the traditional lasagna, and sweet potato fries instead of cheesy baked potatoes.

We already had Thanksgiving this past Saturday. (My niece came home - she's in retail management, so she'll be working Thanksgiving weekend.) We had the traditional stuff at my sister's - turkey, stuffing, potatoes, gravy, cranberry sauce.

So on the actual day, I will probably work on a sewing project and eat grilled cheese.

We're ordering all kinds of stuff from The Cheesecake Factory.

They have everything.

Expensive for 11 people (including kids) but a few times a year we try to splurge.

hey now! I'll be doing the usual stuff. turkey, stuffing, mashed taters, various veggies. Only thing I'm going to do a little differently is to dry-brine my turkey this year. basically just salt it with out the water part

We are having a house full...frying two turkeys (infrared, no grease), smoking two hams on the grill, stuffing, sweet potatoes, mac and cheese, green beens, etc.

I was out buying the turkey yesterday.

Last year was my first attempt at seasoning/cooking the bird, and by all accounts, it was a GOOD turkey.
This year, I bought fresh herbs (rosemary, thyme & sage) which I will sprinkle on top, and I bought a pack of "soup veggies" (carrot, turnip, celery, herbs) that I will chop up and stuff inside to add flavor and soak up the excess fluids - those will get thrown away and then pan-made stuffing will go inside once the bird is cooked.

eating vegetarian and gluten-free has been a challenge today i'm thankful for the food, i'm thankful i don't have to eat it all and i'm thankful my family and friends still love each other after the production that is thanksgiving.

Well, I ended up having two Thanksgivings this year. Another one of my sisters called to invite us after she heard that my other sister had Thanksgiving on the previous Saturday.

We had the traditional fare - and then came the best part. I asked if they were going to do anything with their turkey carcass - and they said they'd probably just throw it away.

Guess who's eating some very yummy turkey soup for lunch today? This girl right here.

Yesterday I made leftover roast pork nachos...and that is the LAST of the leftovers.
