I stopped watching after the 5th season. It went nowhere & it seemed like they were going after the ratings as opposed to developed storytelling, hence the absurdities that took place later.
Lynette was the most believable and realist character there to me.

Why do you think it's underated??? For its premiere season, the show was awarded six Primetime Emmy Awards, two Golden Globe Awards and two Screen Actors Guild Awards. The nominations of all of the leading actresses except Eva Longoria for both the Golden Globe Award and Primetime Emmy Award received some media interest. While Longoria seemingly wasn't bothered, stating for the press that "I'm new. I just arrived. I didn't expect at all to be in the minds of the Academy", Marc Cherry regarded them being left out as a "horrendous error".[120] In the end, the Primetime Emmy Award went to Felicity Huffman, while Teri Hatcher received the Golden Globe Award, as well as the Screen Actors Guild Award. The show's second Golden Globe Award for its first year was for Best TV Series – Musical or Comedy, while the other Primetime Emmy Awards went to Kathryn Joosten for her guest role as Karen McCluskey (beating, among others, fellow cast member Lupe Ontiveros), Charles McDougall for his direction of the pilot episode, Danny Elfman's theme music, the picture editing of the pilot, and the casting of the series. The entire cast was awarded the Screen Actors Guild Award, and Nicollette Sheridan was nominated the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress – Series, Miniseries, or Television Film. In 2006, the show continued to receive several nominations. It was awarded with yet another Golden Globe Award for Best TV Series – Musical or Comedy, and all the four leading women received Golden Globe Award nominations, although none of them won. The cast ensemble was awarded with another Screen Actors Guild Award, as was Felicity Huffman. Primetime Emmy Award nominations included, among others, guest actress Shirley Knight and supporting actress Alfre Woodard, although none of the resulted in an actual award. It was nominated for the Pioneer Award at the BAFTAs but lost to Doctor Who, which at the time was recently revamped.

It was my favorite show. I loved the storyline of Eva longoria's character cheating on her husband Carlos with the young boy who cuts their lawn.it was entertaining to see them try not to get caught especially when the husband would come home from work and they would be in the bath tub together I stopped watching after the 3rd season cuz I had a lot of things going on in my life.I do have the first season on DVD though and plan on getting the rest eventually [Edited 11/13/15 1:15am] There's Joy in repetition

Never watched it...The idea of an hour long Drama about restless Married Chicks does nothing for me...Women kept that show on the air..8 seasons is a long time in TV-Land these days...

Eva is as Gorgeous & Sexy as they come, so is Vanessa Williams and Alfre Woodard is the cream of the crop in the Acting World...I did not give the Drama a chance becuz I did not wanna see Women killing Men just to prove a point. Lifetime Network Movies have featured Women torturing Men for decades..That's why I Love Porn; nobody dies, Blacks & Whites get-along and everybody gets a Happy ending...

It's the only Soap Opera I've watched from beginning to end. It was great from season 1-4, okay season 5, then it coasted for the last 3 seasons. Spoiler Alert: To kill off Mike was just wrong! And Edie's bitchy was far more entertaining than Vanessa's over the top acting bitchy. Getting rid of Edie was a mistake. 99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

> Edie was a favorite of mine as well. But that over the top style worked SO well for Vanessa Williams on Ugly Betty. Almost got her an Emmy.

I enjoyed it, I liked all of the dark twists in the stories. For fans who liked desperate Housewives, I would also recommend its Eva Longoria-Marc Cherry produced TV cousin Devious Maids. It's almost like a richer, campier companion piece to the folks of Wisteria Lane through the eyes of a latina group of friends who are the maids to the rich and famous- it has "sleeper hit" feel to it and is absolutely hilarious. The fact that it's just as much murder mystery as it is soap opera will appeal to you if you like dark comedy, and best of all it has Susan Lucci. Actually, all of the main characters are great, even when they've done something despicable

Eva Longoria is on it? No, she's Executive Producer. Having her bring Devious Maids to television with the creator of Desperate Housewives is like giving the fans a 2.0 version to look forward to.

Don't know why you did not like the sixth and seventh seasons, they are good specially the seventh with the Paul Ypung and Susan story. Paul Young was great character, a complex one. I really love the show, the characters all of them are very complex, i mean no one dimensional, they are not good or bad, they do not always do the right thing, they are selfish sometimes, do not always trust one each other; even if they are longtime friends, just as life itself.

It's one of the few non-sitcoms that I watched religiously, mostly because I had a thing for Longoria and Hatcher. I thought it was a good show, and around the 4th season a new street in my neighborhood was named Wisteria Lane. LOL
