On second thought, you might be right.

LMAO Christopher was talking about his own private 'adult' bookstore, not komabookstore.

Sorry. I was trying to come off as pompous. It's the standard mindset of Santa Cruz - downtown there's a few corporate stores (Borders, Starbucks, Gap) and the students HATE them but they still exist unfortunately.

That reminds me of when Starbucks opened a store right next to the IU campus. Some of the students were pretty upset because they thought the evil Starbucks empire was going to put the local coffeehouses out of business. The store got its windows smashed at least once, which IMHO accomplished nothing other than making the anti-Starbucks folks look bad.

I haven't been in Shinders FOREVER! I always pass by it, but never go in. I remember when it was on Block E, near the corner of 6th St. across from Hennepin Center.

Book People in Austin Texas!

I also reccommend:

Half Price Books (always a good idea to recycle, and pay less doing it! The beauty of it is, when you're done with your books you can sell them and buy new books with the cash!) These can be found nationwide.

Austin Books & Comics (okay, its a comic book shop, but a ROCKIN' comic book shop)

As far as chain stores go, I do like Barnes & Noble's focus on a comfortable environment to just kick back and read in.

Around here in NE Ohio, Borders has a much better selection of magazines and music. But the place is loaded with kids and teens running around all over the place driving me nuts.

Barnes and Noble attracts more of an adult crowd and has a nicer atmosphere. But their selection of music sucks. And almost all of their art and computer magazines are those stupid imports that cost like 15 bucks an issue.
