The Silmarillon would be best suited for a Prime Cable network. I don't see how it could work in a theatre release format.

hmm, but if it's made into TV series, would battle scenes still be as epic as they should be?

Yeah I'd like that too,but what about Merlin? The movie Excalibur has the greatest Merlin I've ever seen. There was def some Merlin influence in the character of Gandalf the Grey.

Are you talking about the 1981 Excalibur featuring her Greatness, Dame Helen Mirren? She was a wicked witch in that 80's classic..Was Merlin a stand-out, I don't recall?

I gotta watch it again...I remember Merlin being a Force of Nature but for some reason Helen's wicked character is what I remember most..Maybe it's becuz she's a Big actress. It was the first Movie I've seen that featured her from her younger days..I became a fan of her work maybe in the last 15yrs, but her work goes way back...

I think 'The long good Friday' was the first time I saw her as a kid. Very popular film, her & Bob killed it in that one.
Somewhere around the early - mid 80's 'Excalibur' was on tv, all the kids were chatting about it the nxt day at school, Merlin was the main talking point (& the sex scene smile )
After that, I read whatever I could find on the Myth & Legend of Merlin, fascinating stuff smile Yes, watch it again! wink

Books - Tolkien, by miles. Films - all pretty awful.
