Paying fees is for chumps. Plan ahead and get cash from an ATM in your network, you won't pay a fee.

But I'm curious as to why you think (apparently) that there should be no fees on ATMs. How do you think these things get maintained/serviced? Does money just magically float into and out of them?

I haven't used an ATM in 25 years.

People really need 2 understand this game better.

If not: the bank pockets this money.

They should use the proceeds to pay the ATM.

On top of that you might pay annual fees to have the magstripe card (maybe it even has a chip) so you can use a PIn to get the cash from the ATM.

A per-transaction fee is another non-proprotional method to extract 'wealth' from the people.

Bandwidth is cheap. ATMs are proven technology.

Also, these fees are pushing your wealth more into NIRP-land. (check ZIRP if unfamiliar)

Contrast: in the Netherlands (`somewhere in Europe near Amsterdam`) there's no such thing as fees for guest usage (yet).

Magstripe cards are the predecessors of chip enabled cards which are believed to be more secure (for now).

You pay for the convenience of not having to schlepp all the way to your bank (or bank-affiliated ATM).

Everyone has a CHOICE.

1. Carry around wads of cash.

2. Walk/drive to the nearest affiliated ATM for a free withdrawal.

3. Use the nearest/most-convenient ATM and it's not affiliated, you pay this 3rd party for their services.

It's a non-issue really.

You might be intgerested in a thing called SEPA.

It's a payment-integration initiative of the European Union for simplification of bank transfers denominated in euro.

One method of adressing any bank in the whole area, cross country, without fees in my cases.

All electronic. No paper stuff. Fairly quick.

I propose you look at TPP and TTIP - US corporate regulations - and what they do for wealth, health, rights, privacy, etc.
