Sad news.....just heard this on WFAN sports talk radio. Moses was a true legend - the real 'chairman of the board'. Nobody worked harder. And in 1982-83, he teamed with Dr. J, Mo Cheeks, Andrew Toney and Bobby Jones to form one of the best teams in NBA history.

No details on cause of death yet.

RIP. I sure enjoyed his time in Houston. He was a beast.

My favorite Malone story was the time in training camp when a reporter asked him what he'd done all summer. "Shot pool" replied Moses. "Oh, you have a pool table?" asked the reporter. Moses glared at him and said, "Shot baskets. Swam in pool".

He was a man of few words.

Sad news, he was a favorite of mine. Very talented, quiet and humble.

60 is way too young, RIP Moses.

Chocolate Thunder was a couple weeks ago, two NBA legends going before their time. Hopefully the 3-rule doesn't happen again.

He was awesome in his time, the first superstar in Houston (just before Hakeem Olajuwon) and eventually joing Julius Erving in Philly to lead the 76ers to the promised land of an NBA title in 1983. He will be missed,

Sixer management woke up and realised Dr. J needed another star, a legit big man (no offense to Caldwell Jones) to battle Parrish and Kareem. Funny thing is, Philly and Boston didn't meet in the '83 playoffs - Celtics quit on Bill Fitch and got swept by the Bucks (a very talented team that had the misfortune of playing in the same conference with those tough Philly and Boston teams).

As great as that '83 Sixer team was, they couldn't sustain their success like the Lakers, Celtics, Pistons & Bulls did. The following season they lost to the friggin' Nets in the first round.

Andrew Toney was the unsung hero for that Sixers team

but he never seemed to be the same after 85.

Toney is my 2nd all time favorite Sixer behind Julius Erving.

Moses Malone is in my top 12 NBA greatest ever easily. Among centers, he & Hakeem are tied at four behind Wilt, Russell & Kareem.

You could say that about a lot of players. Imagine if Bill Walton and Bernard King had today's medical technology.
