Your current job vs. your dream job

Hi guys,

I work as an AE at an ad agency now, but my whole life I dreamed of becoming a travel journalist. I love traveling, filming and more than anything, writing. I get told I'm very skilled at what I do for a living right now, which is great, but it hurts to get rejection emails every time I try to apply for a journalist gig. Sucks what you're good at isn't what you love doesn't it...

So I'm curious. What's your dream job? and how many of you love your current job? And are you doing anything to get close to having your dream job right now?

I'm crazy, I want to do everything all at once. Home decorator, stager, computer programmer, inventor, dog trainer, realtor, waitress, real estate investor/flipper, carpenter, pizza maker, delivery driver, truck driver... but I don't know how to do any of my dream jobs. lol

For me, I always had my far-fetched dream job (costume designer or tambourine player in Prince's band lol ) and my more realistic dream job (forensic scientist).

I'm pretty fortunate that what I actually do is pretty similar to the realistic dream job.

If you will, so will I

Doing it. Kind of beyond what I ever dreamed so it's a bit scary and an emotional roller coaster but even if nothing ever comes of it it's already enough!!!
I'm the mistake you wanna make

Have you looked into setting up your own website? If you could simply write and put it online, and have people read it and make $$$ off it, that's your dream job right there, no...? smile

Note that making money will be a BIG IF!! Because it'll be ad views of the page that you put up.

Yes! That's my dream job as well.
Traveling the world, writing articles, and more importantly taking photographs.

It's a crowded field - the ones making significant money have been at it for a long time.

Dream job? being able to produce my own food and build my own house; not going to happen; that's why I'm stuck with a job to pay for the food-rent; I'm not complaining, just sayin'

Wait - which exactly is your "dream job"? Carpentry or farming?

Because if you mean that you want to adopt a homestead lifestyle (no apartment, no job) then there are still places in Alaska that you could do this.
