Telemarketers - Love em or Hate em

I've had them call and I say no thank you and hang up. Or I simply don't answer the phone giggle

Some will just continue reading their script while you continuously say "no thank you" over and over mad

I'll never, ever understand the whole approach of telemarketing

feels arrogant, rude and-or desperate to me...

invasion of your privacy, period

I have an answering machine so I screen calls. On the chance I pick up, I'm just blunt since they'll just do their routine anyway when I'm trying to politely tell them no, I just bowl right ahead and tell them they're wasting their time, I'm not interested and then I hang up. I feel a moment bad because I know that's someone's job but then I feel why let them waste their time on a definite no when they might have better odds elsewhere.

I hang up on them after I say no thanks too. Otherwise they will just try to get you to hear them by explaining something... nah, I don't wanna take a survey!

One person hung up on me when I called them while doing my call/canvassing. giggle Oh well! Next!

they're just trying to earn a living. i don't like the calls, but i have caller ID now. if you're receiving a lot of these calls you can report the number to the FTC.

I used the do part time work for a marketing research firm where we had to call consumers over the telephone for surveys. The only way to stop them from calling you is to tell them, "Please put me on your DO NOT CALL LIST". Hanging up or saying "No thank you" is only a temporary solution. " No thank you" puts you back in the queue for the next sales campaign, which may be in several weeks or months. Hanging up puts you back in the queue for another person to call you the next day or next week

These people are trying to earn a living and they are coached and encouraged into being aggressive. It's not fun for them. The more polite or submissive they are, the more hell they are going to catch from management and the people coaching them. Again, a simple, polite request for them to remove your number from their call list usually will suffice. I have never run into any telemarketer who has refused that request. It is the law.

The funny thing is that I did this work for a while, but I never answer those calls myself! Everybody needs to make aliving, I've got nothing against it and since I gave up my landline I never get those calls anymore. And I don't miss it!

I had to work as a telemarketer for three months due to a stupid mandotary graduation project - definitly not by choice - the number of times I got cussed at were staggering. #Facepalm

It was a learning experience though, thats for sure.

I'm not a fan of tranditional telemarketing strategy where it's just about calling someone to ask them if they're intrested in buying something or changing their phone plans...I'm geniuenly curious what the success percentage is like on those. It must somehow work well with the older generation I assume?

But TM will never go away and I got to admit on certain things it works very well. Even Google uses TM and lives on it. They usually send out invitations via email and follow up with TM to encourage them to RSVP. After all TM is more personal than eDM.

Me too, it pisses me off to no end! I realize that these telemarketers need to make a living too, but if I'm on the "Do Not Call List", these people need to get it through their thick skulls that I AM NOT INTERESTED and that they need to go try their sales pitch on somebody else.

I still get sales calls on my cell phone. I normally don't answer them, and let the calls go into voice mail. Of course, the person never leaves a message (lol), so I then block the number so that every time they call me, the call just goes into voice mail anyway. I have TONS of blocked numbers on my cell phone now. lol

On the off chance that I DO answer my cell phone, I cut people off before they can get too far into their spiel (and I'm not very nice about it, either. lol) I tell them, "Look, I'm not interested. You need to stop calling me. I'm on the do not call list anyway, so I don't know why you are contacting me!" I then promptly hang up on them.

I got a call a week or two back about a "free vacation" (which will all know is bullshit, since nothing in this world is free lol). It was a recording, and I had the option of pressing a certain button to "Opt out" of any future calls, so I did that. That's not to say that I won't get more calls from another company, though.

Telemarketers brick Ugh! I can't stand them. They need to go away.

RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.
