Dear auto drivers:

Please stay in your lane and stop trying to run over bike riders and pedestrians.

Signed,

not 'oblivious'

they do on the streets what they do on the sidewalks.

the difference is they thinkin the response will be the same.

yo bike against my body... you may win.

yo bike against my car... you gonna lose BIG!!!

my car don't get dented and scratched.

my drivin record is exemplary...

i know what my car is capable of and where it belongs.

i don't count myself as a driver AND pedestrian. i'm a driver OR pedestrian.

when i'm a pedestrian, i don't act like a car or like i'm in one.

i yeald for pedestrians (even on foot) so i'm sayin it would appear

that the 'cyclist' seem to have the attitude that they are above all

and those who aren't 'cyclist' have a very different view of them than they do...

don't bring a squirt gun to the wrong settin... lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol lol

AND BY THE WAY!!!

trust me, i unnastand that

this ain't the site where folks

go out and run er day,

that's why we ain't heard from the runners

who will tell us that CARS ain't the ones

that been runnin them over...

RUNNERS

pretty much have the same argument

that these cyclist seem to be makin,

then the cyclist start

usin the arguments of the drivers

in this thread...

The difference is,

for the most part, runners don't run into the bikes.

and usually, they're hindsided...

I love Amsterdam because I can get around on my bike. I don't need to involve myself in the frustration of public transport, let alone car traffic.

It's a matter of legislation and public landscape planning.

Law 1: In case of an accident between a motorised vehicle and a bicycle, it's always the fault of the motorised vehicle.

That is why cycling in Amsterdam is good, if you drive a car, you have to be very careful not to hit a cyclist. It's always your responsebility.

Make bicycle lanes, so cars and cyclist don't fight over space.

It's ridicilous that most of the space in cities is take up by roads for cars, mostly taxi's, used by wealthy people. Whilst millions ordinary folks have to use the pavement to get from A to B.

Cut the space for the rich who pollute and make room for the majority who's scraping by and who would benefit from getting fit for free and have free transport.

Going around in the city on your bike, is oftentimes faster then taking public transport or your car.

99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

I can sum up my love of Amsterdam with the pic of that elderly couple cycling at night in front of us, holding hands...

Every person cycling is one less person sat in a car adding to the traffic jam....most drivers seem to forget that. Of course, the cyclists could just get in a car instead but chances are it would take forever to get anywhere then!

We have an HOV lane (High Occupancy Vehicle lane) that runs from downtown to my area. It's one lane, and you can't pass anyone on it. The speed limit is 60 miles per hour, and that's how fast traffic flows in it.

There's a complete a**hole on a motorcycle that has passed me TWICE. To do this, he has to skirt alongside the retaining wall. It's illegal and dangerous as hell. And the second time he passed me, it was raining. He's playing with lives when he does this.

Somehow, some way I am going to catch this guy. I hope I have the restraint to only get his name or license plate number, or some identifier. I will do everything in my power to strip this guy of his ability to operate a motor vehicle.

a very large percentage of cyclist do not regard stop signs. BIG PROBLEM for vehicles.

What's pissing me off in my town of Gouda, Holland lately and I'm sure it's the same in other towns, (I noticed it in the centre of Utrecht as well) is people riding bicycles in streets that are meant for pedestrians! Imagine walking in a street and having to avoid people on bicycles (ridingfast) all the time!

as i said... cyclist care about the cars they try to crowd, not the pedestrians...

pedestrians feel about folks on bikes the way folks on bikes feel about folks in car, but pedestrians have more of a case since they are the true pedestrians...

As a driver I live mystified at cyclists and pedestrians who move through the city believing that cars will simply not hit them and that there is no need to pay attention. It's as if they think a bold attitude will deflect a speeding vehicle

As a cyclist, I can imagine that it's pretty annoying that there is seemingly no safe in the city to ride a bike!

yep...

there's nothin like watchin the reactions of those who cycle

when they are treated rudely by cyclist while they are a pedestrian, or a driver...

then it becomes a thing where they ( the irate rider)

will point out erthing wrong about bike riders UNTIL tey the one on the bike...

it that case of selective responsibility/insult/vision/attitude, etc... lol lol lol lol
