Any Orgers From LA? I'd Appreciate Some Suggestions

I'm staying with a friend in Encino for two weeks from next weekend. I've been to LA for the first time two years ago in Santa Monica, but my stay was short.

Any cool places I should check out beside the usual touristy spots as I've already seen them? Places that a Prince (or a music fan for that matter) might enjoy? Also, if anybody would like to hang out, that would be cool as well nod smile

Have you ever tried the Eiffel Tower? I know it's touristy, but still, it's alotta fun.
Ifyou climb to the very top, you can actually see, way out in the horizon, the edges of this flat Earth.

First your in the valley, most things will be a trek on the freeways. depending on what time you wanna get around the freeways are a traffic hell.Stay off them during 3-7pm. Closest beach is probably Malibu area, tough parking there, get in the area early no matter where you go. Plan ahead n check things out that you'd like to do. Hollywood's a mess of tourists and car congestion, parking 10$ n up,you've been places already so you know a few things.

The local record stores as good as any, are they ever really different, seen one you've seen em all. There were a few interesting ones in Santa Monica but they both closed.

Go to some shows! LA Weekly has a very good daily calendar of everything happening. There are some very nice outdoor venues with free or inexpensive tickets. Getty Museum, Skirball Center, Autry Musueum all have free concerts periodically.

And Amoeba Music is worth the trip at least once, probably the biggest record store you've ever seen.

I'd say the Farmers Market is still a must... great food, nice place to people watch. Go when it opens... if you don't won't to be bothered with crowds. Checkout the restaurant at the Market that cooks, Louisiana cuisine. LaBrea Tar Pits Museum, is something that may interest also.

I'm not from LA, but I visited last year, and loved it. Best hol i've ever had. Universal Studios is cool. Went biking along Venice Beach. And fulfilled a lifetime ambition by getting massively drunk in the Whisky a Go Go and the Rainbow Bar and Grill. Amazing, i'd go back in a heartbeat

Oh, also there's some Prince stuff hanging at the Hard Rock Cafe at Universal, if I recall correctly

Amoeba, you MUST go to Amoeba. It's the last of the last "Wrecka Stows".

.

My favorite place in L.A. is The Lake Shrine - down Sunset Blvd. toward the ocean, it'll be just a couple of blocks from the Pacific on the left hand side. (Some of Ghandi's ashes are interred there.) It's a beautiful place.

.

Haven't been to L.A. for several years, but love it there. The two places I mentioned are places I go every time I go to L.A.
