He has created a mess in Dallas and with Texas being a no tax state, lost money as well.

I don´t really understand that text. So he signed with the Clippers, and then with the Mavericks, only to change his mind again and go back to LA?

And how did Texas being a no tax state make him lose money? I don´t understand that part.

1. He had a verbal agreement with Dallas...........so Dallas did not pursue other centers.

2. He reneged and now the players Dallas would have gone after have signed elsewhere which leave Dallas with nothing.

3. There are no state taxes in Texas. Cali has state taxes so over the life on this contract, he will be paying a few million in state taxes in calif that he could have avoided had he signed with Dallas.

It's a damn shame that DeAndre didn't have Dr. Boyce Watkins for a money advisor. Playing NBA Basketball in a state with no state tax is a wise inventment.

However, maybe DeAndre realize that his game stats are only as good as the point guard that know how to pass the ball to him.

I wonder if the NBA can make the Clippers give up money or draft picks to Dallas because of DeAndre's actions?

Thanks for the detailed answers.

Sounds like he burned some bridges by not honoring his verbal agreement. This is awkward and will probably stick with him for some time, especially when he plays against Dallas.

American tax laws are interesting. I never knew that Texas has no state taxes.

And....living and playing with THAT last name must be mentally tough in the NBA.
