A question for all the hairstylists on the org...

Have any of you org hairstylists ever cut into someone's ear while giving a haircut? If so, how did you handle that situation? Did the customer get irate or what happened?

Yes, it's happened, but only with small children - while using clippers. This is why after it happening a few times, I refuse to even start cutting any irate child's hair.

I basically apologised, as I am human. In the few times that it did happen, the customer understood, because they were aware of the situation. I don't charge a customer if this happens.

I've also had it where someone with sensitive skin gets "bitten" by the clipper, and this has always struck me as odd - they will get marks from the clippers where it touches the skin in back. In this case I will use a razor instead, and again - the customer doesn't get irate.

Stylists cut themselves far more often. biggrin

When I was a kid my mom used to cut my hair and one time after drinking too much wine whe cut the hell out of my ear. She almost cut the upper cartilege in half. It was bloody and I was pissed.

It's a simple equation of thin, tender skin, and a child that just won't keep still.

Excellent...

I ask because the hairstylist who did my recent haircut got the scissors right on the ear and clamped them down just until it hurt without bringing blood... she didn't give me a free haircut.

You are nice.

My shears are as sharp as razor blades, and if I were her, the shears would have gone right through. biggrin

Thanks... I don't mind giving a free cut with a customer nick or cut, because it is almost non-existant. I keep focused when I am cutting anybody's hair, shears can do great harm if not handled with respect.

Stylists are far more likely to cut themselves then the client. I have glued a lot of stylists hands to stop bleeding!
