Yes, the TP-Link Router and the Raspberry / Pirate- Pi are Pirateboxes.

The "Pirate-Pi" build, will be a bit more sophisticated and will be programmed differently than the TP-Link router. In theory, the range should be greater since the Pirate-Pi will have a usb wireless antenna. Also the Pirate-Pi will be connected to a LED circuit board; the circuit board will allow me to add LED lights and the ability to power up or down via a shutfoff button. Also, the TP - Link & Pirate-Pi it will have media streamng capapbilities.

The PirateBox creates a local WiFi network, independent from the Internet, with anonymous file sharing and chatting capabilities. These boxes could be used in areas where there's no Internet infrastructure. The Piratebox could be used by first responders / insurance companies during a man-made or natural disasters. It could be used to share books, ideas by people who may be oppressed. The possibilities are endless.
