Some good news to report! Doctors have found a match for Nico! Here is a message from his mom:

We are officially on our way! Nico has moved down to the Transplant unit tonight. Tomorrow begins day -7 . Though the next few weeks are about to be the most difficult to come, I know we have all of you right by our sides , and we will get through it. Our ongoing thanks and appreciation for all the love and support you have shown us. You are Nico's army, and my angels....love you all.

Keep those prayers going....still have a tough road ahead.

Hi Everyone

Nico is in pretty rough shape. He is on a ventilator, a feeding tube, 4 iv's and his fingers are dying. He will need both of his hands amputated soon. Doctors say we won't know if there's a match until April. They want all necessary tests to run to know it's an absolute match, and I suppose not to give us false hope.

The most important thing right now is to FIND that match. Again, if you are up for the challenge and are a healthy adult please consider registering on bethematch.com

Second, we do have a go fund me page and the response so far has been HUGE. Mom has been out of work for months and she is unable to make mortgage payments on top of medical bills, having to stay in a hotel, pay for hospital parking and eat. The hospital is so full they do not even have a cot for her.

Anything helps if you so choose to donate. There are lots of campaigns asking for money these days and we cannot help everyone. If anything please keep Nico in your prayers. This little nugget has been through so much and is fighting as hard as he can to hang on.

My friend's little boy is in dire need of a bone marrow transplant. He has SCIDS and will not survive without one. I realize becoming a donor is a lot of work, but if you meet the criteria please consider registering to be a bone marrow donor. It could save a child's life.

If you cannot donate for any reason I ask that you share this on your facebook page. Actually I ask all of you to share in some way. You just never know who could be a match. Nico deserves a chance.

Thank you, everyone. His mom is a single mother and as you can imagine, she is just beside herself. He is now on a ventilator in a Boston hospital. If we find a match and he survives he will have to have his hands amputated, as the circulation has stopped and his hands turned black. Doctors are not sure why.

This is so devastating to the family and friends. We are trying to do everything we can to help, but there is only so much. Any sharing of this post is so greatly appreciated. Nico is Italian and Indian descent, if you know anyone with similar race maybe they will be willing to be tested.

We may be having a benefit for the mom. I will post updates here if anyone is interested.

Again, thank you for sharing, posting, and keeping Nico in your thoughts and prayers. <3

Thank you, prittypriss. I cannot donate either, I have autoimmune disease myself and unfortunately cannot participate.

Spreading the word helps. A friend of a friend of a friend could be a match...you just never know.

I guess they will still amputate his fingers. You can see in the photos how they turned black. Since they are completely dead, Nico can't feel the pain anymore so the doctors are not rushing to amputate. They want to make sure that there won't be any more damaged tissue so they get it all in one surgery.

Nico is at Boston Children's Hospital where he is getting the best care possible for the condition he has. The Go Fund Me page is to help his mom since she has been out of work for over 3 months. He just had surgery yesterday to remove some of the fingers that turned black and died.

There were 3 matches found, but all declined to donate.

Nico had surgery last week to remove some of his fingers. They are now really concentrating on finding a bone marrow match. www.bethematch.org has all the answers you need to find out if you fit the criteria of becoming a donor. Please consider helping if you can. <3

Signed up on the site. It's sad that anyone would decline to donate, after going through the effort of becoming a donor. I don't know (& somehow doubt that it's the case) that potential donors are told that they could save the life of little guy like that, but if that's the case, how could anyone refuse? Let alone 3 people? It's my understanding that travel & some other expenses are covered for the donor.

There may be some good news to report soon....!!!!

Nico is currently undergoing very harsh chemo to get the disease under control.

Hopefully another update in a few weeks.
