This is purely hypothetical, since I'm not single... but maybe a nice deep house mix CD, such as one from Naked Music? Please note: effective March 21, 2010, I've stepped down from my prince.org Moderator position. |

Anyone who plays Phil Collins on a first date with me better be playing a joke, or else it's the LAST date.
How about some of this: Anything by Sigur Ros (maybe a bit intense, but certainly gorgeous) Alice Coletrane: Transcendence This Mortal Coil: Blood (not as doomy-gloomy as the title or band name suggests - kinda like Massive-Attack/Art of Noise, only w/ even more texture) Anything by Stereolab (nice, cheery, fairly abstract alterna-pop-jazz...goes well with dinner) GWAR (some of the most romantic ballads of the past two decades...okay, just checking to see if you're still paying attention) And of course, there's always room for Sade..."Stronger Than Pride"...yum...

Miles Davis - Kind of Blue
Frank - Songs for Swingin' Lovers, or some Basie stuff from the '60s, nothing Rat Pack though You've already got Smokey on the list...maybe What's Going On might be a little too topical right now . And definitely drop the Phil Collins.

Note: I meant "drop" as in "drop the Phil Collins record on the floor and let the cat mark its territory on it," not "yo, we's about to drop some Pheel Collins up in this mofo!"
