So my Mom buys my Grandparents house last year and she asks me to set up her stereo for her. My Grandpa had left behind all his audio equipment when he moved so I figured that most of it would hit the garbage.

As I'm looking through his stuff (which would have been impressive 35 years ago) I see something that is marked 8-track recorder. Then I find a box of about 100 blank 8-tracks. I didn't even know there was such a thing, but I tell you what I am certainly going to be making someone a mixed 8-track.

Fuck cd burning, if you want to score some real pussy you give a girl a mixed 8-track.

It was kind of sad looking through my Grandpa's stuff because he used to be an audiophile and a tech head, but one day he just stopped. I've heard that he owned the first color tv in Minnesota. He bought some proptype in California for some outrageous price and then had to wait almost 3 years until they started broadcasting anything in color to see if the damn thing worked.

I remember when I was little he bought one of the first home video cameras. The thing made the worst looking video and you used to have to carry around both a vcr and a camera. The thing was huge, but he was into that shit. It was pretty cool. It's so sad because now he thinks things like DVD are just a waste of time.

i collect 8-tracks like a muthafucka... got tons of 'em... jimmy buffett, led zeppelin, elvis presley, bob dylan, george jones, james brown, KISS, the rolling stones, b.b. king, jim reeves, all kinds of artists... i got 8-tracks by people that i don't even like... :LOL:...

people come to my house and have no idea what the hell they are...

and yes, occasionally you do have to wiggle them around and angle them just right to eliminate a lot of the muffled sound...

and sometimes, they won't automatically switch from one track to the next, so you end up hearing the same 4 songs over and over until you get up and hit the damn next track button...

and if there's one particular song that you want to hear, you gotta sit through everything else one that one track until that song comes on, because there is no rewind or fast forward... ("i don't wanna hear the rest of the shit on that damn 8-track, i just want that ONE SONG!!!"- jimmy buffett in concert)...

i bought a brand new 8-track player from radio shack about 4 years ago... got the last one they had... my old 8-track player had been shot to shit...

i have owned jimmy buffett's "changes in lattitudes, changes in attitudes" on 8-track, LP, cassette, and CD... ... and my stereo is equiped to play each and every one of them... :LOL:...
