Stephen Collins apologizes for sexual abuse in a statement to People

I honestly don't know what to say about this one. Although its a good thing that he's now coming clean. The fact of the matter is he sexually assaulted underage girls. disbelief

Stephen Collins apologizes for sexual abuse in a statement to People

Actor Stephen Collins, who played the family's minister-father for nine years on "7th Heaven," has released a 1000-word statement to People in which he apologizes for his "inexcusable" sexual abuse of three underage girls, the first of whom he attacked in 1973 and the last of whom he exposed himself to when she was a teenager in 1994.

"I have not had an impulse to act out in any such way" in the last 20 years, he says in the statement, which E!reports will be released in full in People's print issue on Friday.

News of the assaults went public after Collins admitted his wrongdoing in the midst of ongoing divorce proceedings with his estranged wife, Faye Grant. Collins has since claimed that she leaked a recording of his admission to extort money from him.

"I deeply regret the mistakes I've made and any pain I have caused these three women. I admit to, apologize for and take responsibility for what I did," Collins writes in the statement, more of which is excerpted below:

Oh, well he said he was sorry.

All is better now.

The US really needs to abolish the statute of limitations so taking "responsibility" wouldn't just mean saying "I'm sorry".

Some people in the US get to say they are sorry, run to some "treatment center" or attempt to flip their acts of evil as a quest for redemption.

Other folks, are thrown into jail for life for the slightest infractions, if they are lucky. We lie so much in this country... and damn near about anything and everything. confused

During childhood, Lena Dunham committed acts of paedophila AND incest on her own little sister. And yet that bitch has NEVER been arrested nor has she lost her entertainment career yet! disbelief

She was 7 years old when this happened. She looked at her sister's vagina out of curiosity and admitted to playing an odd kissing game with her.

Although I think her childhood confessions show a child that was confused and acted inappropriately with her sister (which is extremely common with children - "wanna play Dr?" "Show me yours and I'll show you mine") they are not comparable to the allegations against Cosby. For it to actually be the ridiculous "feminist equality" claim it would have to be a female adult that drugged and raped men.

The comments about Lena Durham are interesting. I don't see many org men complaining when a female teacher has sex with her male students. Be outraged over it all but don't come screaming reverse feminism because Bill is someone you like.

agreed

i believe some of the things she admitted to was

a continuin act of coersion toward her younger sister

(from money to candy to watchin favorite tv shows)

for acts sexual in nature...

i do unnastan that homosexual act are high on the list

of things acceptable on this site. and i been noticed that

the age of these experiences means little also

but I AM SURE that you'd feel some kind of way

if you found your kid was the subject of her

(lena's) sexual abuse of yo child, even if it was ten years ago

and she was "just a kid" IF NOT eek eek eek

i don't know if anything else went on

i do know kids experiment... and need to be taught appropriate behaviour

i don't think "fuck!.. that paedophile should be arrested!" when i hear that a seven year old girl kissed her younger sister for 5 seconds and took a look at her private parts

i'm not saying it's cool... but for it to be mentioned in the same regard as the accusations against cosby, and the acts of the slime bag this thread is about is ludicrous

if it went on with my kids, i wouldn't be happy.. i'd be teaching the seven year old that it's absolutely not on

i still don't think "degrees of acceptance" is relevant when it comes to what lena dunham wrote in her book... it's completely different imo (if i understand what happened correctly)

as far as cosby and this collins creep... i hear ya... if indeed one guy's show is still showing after he's admitted guilt... that's obviously messed up and a double standard

I hear you. But I'm disappointed toward the idea of any child "playing doctor" with their own siblings. That's too close to incest in my opinion.

" If you’re not familiar with the information, here you go" Søren Vargrmann:
"as I sat in our driveway in Long Island playing with blocks and buckets, my curiosity got the best of me. Grace was sitting up, babbling and smiling, and I leaned down between her legs and carefully spread open her vagina. She didn’t resist and when I saw what was inside I shrieked….My mother didn’t bother asking why I had opened Grace’s vagina. This was within the spectrum of things I did."

Another passage from Lena’s book, as Grace gets older:

As she grew, I took to bribing her time and affection: one dollar in quarters if I could do her makeup like a “motorcycle chick.” Three pieces of candy if I could kiss her on the lips for five seconds. Whatever she wanted to watch on TV if she would just “relax on me.” Basically, anything a sexual predator might do to woo a small suburban girl, I was trying.
Lena also admits to masturbating next to her sister while they share a bed.
This describes child-on-child sexual abuse, which is defined as sexual activity between children that occurs without consent, without equality, or as a result of coercion. In this case, molestation results without consent and from Lena’s coercive tactics".Søren Vargrmann

Well, it basically is incest...and it's extremely common because it's mostly your siblings you're around when you're little.

This is why my son has been taught about his body, sex and sexuality at a very young age to prevent this natural curiosity (at the expense of another child) due to ignorance.

As for the comments that Lena said posted here (and heavily edited for some reason). I really don't see that behaviour as something that determines that she is a pedophile at all. Curiosity and confusion that manifested itself in an inappropriate way, for sure. But was/is she sexually attracted to children? I don't think so. I don't believe that's what it was.

That said, Lena is deserving of the criticism for the language she used when detailing her experience with her sister.
