Both have been thrown millions of dollars their way to direct a major film. Madonna didn't click with her film. Angie did. And madonna should've clicked with her material.

Madonna had a hit starring with Roseanna Arquette in Desperately Seeking Susan, which I really enjoyed. But then she was pretty much playing a version of herself.

I hated Madonna's music but...

Despite those of us who can't stand her she has persisted. She has the type of tenacity that if applied to something greater than concerts would make her a force to be recond with. Those who do like her love her concerts and she seems to never take her fans for granted.

She sucks at movies, so she stopped making them. Got to love her for that. Her skin is amazingly thick and given how much her haters like to hate, she has done well outlasting them. I envy her thick skin!!!!!

She has stayed fit, but doesn't seem to be starving herself. Her weight doesn't fluctuate so her stuff is where it belongs without benifit of breasts implants, which I would need. (Having aged, had a child and lost serious weight I could use implants. Angelina however did not have implants due to the fact that she was thin as a rail, had three children, or aged significantly since her Gia days but instead to fight cancer. )

I've said before and it is true, musicians usually don't make good actors/actresses.

Especially if they have a huge star personality. They're whole time is built around promoting themselves via their music videos concerts. And that doesn't do well when they try to do movies or films. Only if the character is something close to who they are or doing very small roles/appearances are good for them, and it usually leaves an impact. I would love to see Prince appear in a futuristic movie small role

Madonna in Desperately Seaking Susan, Body Of Evidence, A League of their Own, Evita, Girl 6, Die Another Day... these were all good roles on her part, and too some degree these roles were some side of her.

Is this in general about musicians? What about Cher or Barbara Streisand? They won Oscars. Very few musicians can tackle it and succeed.

I think I might have been dealing more with maybe 1980s and onward

People like Barbara Streisand came from a period when a lot of entertainers sang/dance/acted

It just seems the more an musician/singer is like a 'brand' like Madonna Prince and many other they don't know how to drop themselves to play another part.
