Home is behind
The world ahead
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadow
To the edge of night
Until the stars are all alight
Mist and shadow
Cloud and shade
All shall fade
All...shall...Fade

Well, Pippin's song (A Walking Song) was a bit distracting since its not in this movie. But yeah I'm more interested or rather I am anticipating this installment.

I sorta had the same feeling, when I watched them.

I think for me it was because I somehow compared it to the Lord of the Rings

I watched them again and I appreciate them in a different way now I enjoy them now

I saw the first one at the cinema and couldn't stand it, then saw the 2nd one on blu-ray and could stand that even less. Every Middle-earth film so far, including the LotR films, has been worse than the one before it, so I don't hold out much hope for this (mercifully last) installment.

I suspect you won't even waste time in going to see it just to say it was worse than the one before?

Are you comparing them to the books?

I'll watch it on blu-ray when the extended version comes out, the same as the second one. Can't really appraise something I've not seen.

While it is true that the films bear very little resemblence to the book, I wouldn't like The Hobbit films (so far) even if they were totally original and the book had never been written.

After about 20 minutes I don't even notice the 3d, something in my brain readjust it and I'm only noticing it as a 2d show. So I think the money's wasted on me, except I think the screens bigger and the sound is better, so I more engrossed.

I think since it's not the surrounded by a dome type of thing my brain really isn't buying into the 3d effect. Peripheral vision and all. But I love to feel the sound vibration coming through the floor and stuff, which is why I don't like going when it's full, too many people block the sound or absorb it or something it loses the effect enough to notice.

so, has anyone seen it? I did today, and, frankly, I think it was an average fantasy/action motion picture, a bad/messy third movie of the hobbit trilogy, and last but not least a DREADFUL adaptation of Tolkien's work...

by comparison, Unexpected Journey and Desolation of Smaug were as good as Fellowship of the Ring and The 2 Towers...that's how bad Battle of 5 Armies is...

I just saw this in 3D IMAX. I had not seen #2, but I saw #1 and thought it was decent. I was a little surprised that basically none of this movie is from the book lol

My impression was that I was not moved by any of the dramatic elements, but that it was the most visually stunning movie experience I've had. Generally I hate 3D, but we sat with perfect seats, and it was like being in the middle of the action (as I assume they intended it).

Still, the movie didn't stir a single emotional pang for me.
