I'd keep it.

Unless it had just fallen out of someone's pocket and I'd witnessed said fall.

I'd put it somewhere safe and pretend I never found it and carry on as usual. Then sometime later I'd surprise myself by remembering I had it and go and buy something cool.

If the person who lost it is just before me I'd give it back... If it is on the ground of a desert street with obviously no one has been seen to lose it, that's something else...

Of course I'd pick it up and keep it... if I didn't know whose it was and it was just there, with no possiblity of my finding the one who lost it.

i would go to the closest bank and change it for 5 crisp 10 pound notes cos no shop is ever going to accept a 50
