I just discovered this yesterday myself. His voice is right up there with James Earl Jones, if he keeps doing voiceovers then we will know for sure its him....it's fantastic. I watched him do the physical part with the green screen attachments and was like..OH SHIT this dude is Smaug!!!!
When he was in Star Trek I had no clue of who he was...I'm not into the Sherlock thing at all but my sis and boyfriend are.....when we left the movies I was like that guy that played Khan was AWESOME.....I turn to them and they both was like "you don't know who he is?" BUT... you have to understand... their faces was like (REALLY ) we are walking with this dork
I like him ALOT but still haven't invested the time in Sherlock. I want to see it from the beginning and then maybe I can get into it. "A Man Can't Ride Your Back Unless It's Bent" MLK 4/3/68

^ Yep liked him in ST, actors of the UK seem to really add something to the screen. Love BBC series of Sherlock Holmes, you ought to check it out its very humorous and witty, but my heart and drooling was stolen by RDJ as SH. I'm dying for the third installment of that too.
