For what willowy, starving Details cover models are men's designers cutting pants these days? I have a 32" waist/33" inseam, I'm neither chubby nor buff, and I've been roughly the same size for about 20 years. It seems, however, that in the past, oh, 2 to 3 years new off-the-rack pants fit me like doggone leggings -- and this wouldn't be just skinny or slim-cut trousers! I have a bit more luck with bootcut pants, but I'm noticing fewer designers offering those outside of their denim lines.

Any other dudes encountering this? Which designers have you found with a fuller, but not baggy, cut?

all the boys that work at H&M have the tiniest tightest little pants, it's like they are all wearing their old primary school pants - they are short too!! they are teaming them with oversized Tshirts, knobbly cardigans, flimsy sandshoes and huge beards. WTF

I'm seeing more and more of that look. I... I just don't understand.

Fine with me if hipsters want to wear these toddler pants. But it'd be nice if that were merely one of several options.

I like the tighter fitting pants.. not too small tight, but fits nice tight.. I hate old man khakis with the pleats..

And those bushy beards that look like overgrown pubic hair

I agree pleats are a no no. I like flat-front trousers. A tailored-looking contour is nice, but even straight cuts these days seem way too slim. If someone can see my thighs and calves flexing at every move, that's just not right. I also don't like that ankle openings are so slim nowadays that there is no graceful drape over the shoe.

I really like slim or skinny jeans on guys.

But super skinny jeans are not good at all.

The worst cut of jeans is the boot cut. Ugh, awful.

I love bootcuts! They have a generally slim contour, but the fuller calf is more comfortable for me, and I think they break nicely at the shoe. The ones in the photo above are way too long, though.

Of course I would like to see 41 year old fathers in slimmer jeans, just like I love slimmer suits.

I really like well tailored clothing...especially on men.

I just can't understand the bootcut though...always looks so sloppy to me.

Straight cut can look nice for men who want a bit more room.

Tailored suits look 1000 times better. I tend also to prefer a fit like the photo on the right. It's just that calves are cut sooo tight these days. I've tried on suit pants that fit me beautifully except that around the calf I literally have to squeeze myself in and then peel them off like stockings.

Ahh, I see. Yeah, it's when it's super tight on the calf and ankle that it looks a bit odd.

i wear boots most of the time... so jeans that are slim at the ankle don't work for me

I believe American Eagle.com would carry the fit you are looking for. I have the same problem with the pants, but I go up a size in the waist and they fit better over the thigh. You wont have to go up a size on American Eagle if you choose the right fit.

As for the bootcut picture that JustErin posted was old man style. They have slim fit bootcut which I wear.

When the kids (guys) started wearing girls' jeans to get that "ultra-skinny" look, manufacturers took notice and started slimming down all the styles.

The "straight" look that JustErin posted would've been considered "slim fit" a few years ago.

My oldest son hates the tight jeans look so I have to buy him "loose fit" to get what was once just "normal".

My youngest loves skinny jeans so he's in heaven. He's normally a size 12 and I bought him a size 18 Skinny and it fits him just fine!!!

Every brand also cuts their jeans differently, so a size 12 in Levis might not be the same as a 12 in GAP.

I'm in the market for new jeans myself, but I'm trying to shed a few pounds beforehand. This new trend is horrific for guys with guts.

I wouldn't get caught dead with the "look" on.

A few years ago, the company I work for decided they wanted to design for two sets of customers - one older and more traditional, the other younger and "hipper." They named our older customer "Gary."

When the younger and hipper started creeping into the Gary line, one of our copy directors said in a meeting, "We need to remember that there's an 'R' in Gary."

There are a lot more hipster doofuses in this place (my office) than there used to be.

I HATE modern day / current jeans

I just can't wear them, Ii refuse to wear that shit

even with perfectly shaped, toned, beautiful legs modern day jeans make me look bad

shopping has become a NIGHTMARE these days, an overlong, dull, frustating, often pointless experience...

I have the same problem with pants. Try Calvin Klein jeans for men. I say men because I don't think most dudes know they make men's clothes. Most people think of 80's women designer jeans I can't even fit my legs in most mens jeans. Nobody wants to wear Dad jeans either. As far as dress pants try kenneth cole or perry ellis. I also have problems wearing men's shirts. I prefer Kenneth cole or Geoffry Beene because they have more of a tailored or tappered fit.

Might not be a bad Idea as much as they are charging for a men's pair of jeans now a days. I'm cheap I would never pay $100 bucks for a pair of jeans.

I can't wear stuff off the rack anyway. It simple doesn't fit the way that I like it.

I hate going shopping for men's jeans because it seems like the overwhelming majority are the "skinny" jeans. I really hate tight-fitting clothes.

I can't stand this trend either but whenever I wear this hipster style clothing, the ladies seem to like it. So I buy a few pair to keep them happy. But the bearded hipster look is retarded. Will be glad when that is over. It's almost as bad as the saggy pants w/underwear showing look.
