Its looking cooooool!
it's looking like a worst case scenario
instead of going forward, opening new horizons/themes, they are re-using elements of the Oold Trilogy: stormtroopers, the Empire, Darth Vader's Armour and what looks like a robotic Palpatine
troublesome so far |

My guess is JJ wants to show that after the party of ROTJ, the galaxy ended up in civil war. Parralels with Iraq or Afganistan. I'm guessing Cyborg Palpatine is actually....Luke. "The cave, remember your failure at the cave".....

that would be like THE WORST idea ever
Luke already conquered his anger by refusing to kill Vader in ROTJ
I can accept Cyborg Palpatine (unlikely to happen since McDiarmid will not take part in this-as far as we know), but get out with the idea of an evil Luke or someone using the armor of Vader, UGH!
this movie may suck, that concept art is all kinds of WRONG [Edited 10/22/14 13:07pm] |

I like that this artist is imitating the John Berkey style. It doesn't have the photoshop look or clumped style of most of the concept art from the last 20 years from Lucasfilm. |

The concept artist is obviouly a very skilled and talented artist, but it only underscores the the creativity and uniqueness of Ralph McQuarrie. Ralph's concept art was awe inspiring. The characters, objects, spaceships, droids all made you go ooohh. |

JJ Abrams has insisted on a return to basics to ensure continuity. subtle evolution, real sets not CGI and a even more worn universe.

That's great! But I HATED "Super-8" and the last Star Trek film was really bad (although the visual styles are cool). The dude has a problem making a strong story with solid character arcs. I'm scared... |

What turned me off to Star Wars was shifting in tone from a vilian like Vader, to more cliched cartoonish cackling villians towards the end. Vadar was evil but not over the top so. From Jedi to the prequels all the bad guys seem to be cackling wizards. Everything went over the top including the Jedi. Nothing toned down, no gravity to anything. Flying Jedi and cackling wizards. |

Honestly JJ Abrams got so much praise for the first Star Trek movie but honestly I really don't think it's better. Hated changing the time line, destroying Vulcan inexcusable , the look of the ship inside is horrible |

And for me it seems every story had to be about a galactic scale war.
There are so many smaller stories they can tell. Without rushing the original crew to old age |

EXACTLY, somehow I think they won't folllow your advice, unfortunately
boy, how I'd like to see personal (yet dangerous-lethal) stories set in a peaceful (overall) New Republic |

I know this is an old post, but here is a thread that shows all the extensive use of full scale sets and miniature models for the Star Wars prequels. I don't know where Abrams gets this idea of going back to basics when the new trailer is full of cgi.

for some reason I think the dialog in the teaser is this scene "Keep on shilling for Big Pharm!" |

No CGI landscapes. It looks much more realistic with the desert, the lake and the sky (behind the Falcon). I don't think a SW film will feel like a SW film without spacecraft battles and I think JJs approach is the perfect balance. If GL had made the new trailer, there would have been little location shooting at this point. He got carried away with the power of CGI. . |

one thing is for sure: The Imperial Remnants will be featured as the (one of the?) villian(s)

That entire sequence including the sky and the desert was all cgi. The ball droid, the x wing fighters, and even probably the cloaked figure with the lightsaber was cgi as well. Trust me there will probably be more cgi in this film than any of the prequels. |

different cosmos I know but the previous Star Trek I just the Enterprise was going to be destroyed. I loved the tv Capt Picard Enterprise and all the character building shows.
With Star Wars it was too much about galactic wars, Luke always had to be disabled |
