Hope Solo gets a pass from news media, but NOT Ray Rice OR Adrian Peterson? WTF?!?
First of all, a shout out to TYT for being this topic up on their YouTube channel.
Second of all, Hope Solo was arrested and charged for the domestic violence on her half-sister and nephew back in June 2014. But yet, no one in the corporate news media are outrage like they were during the Ray Rice & Adrian Peterson backlash? And also, Hope is still playing in women's soccer? WTF is going on with the double standards?
First of all, this DID make the news - both national TV and digital. It wasn't ignored. But it also wasn't the story that Ray Rice's was. That's because: (1) there is no video or pictures; (2) women's soccer doesn't have the popularity that the NFL has; and (3) there's no doubt she's getting lighter treatment because she's a woman.
IMO, she SHOULD have been suspended. She's a bad teammate and a pretty dang violent person overall.

Jane Velez-Mitchell did cover it lastnight but without the same passion as a Ray Rice and Peterson. But the Solange Knowles incident was on camera. Where was the campaign for her head, her arrest for assault? (unless that was all some publicity stunt)

Right THERE^ is the real problem. Corporate news media may have briefly reported the incident. But Hope never became the face of domestic violence like Ray & Adrian has become.

Good point. And you know what? Motherf*** Jane Velez-Mitchell....oops, I mean Jane Velez-Bitchell! That woman is basically Nancy (Dis)Grace Jr.! And I'm convince that Jane & Nancy are both part of the anti-masculinity agenda with the way they twist controversy out of proportion.
As for Solange, she pretty damn lucky that Jay-Z has grown up a bit. If that man was anything like he used to be in the late 90's-early 2000's, Jay would've handle her ass like he did Lance "Un" Rivera. And it wouldn't end well for neither one of them neither.

And that's too bad, because her face is far more attractive that Rice or Peterson's.
The biggest irony in all of this is that Hope was also a victim of domestic violence from her own husband (oh BTW, they're still married!). She knows that bullshit is wrong and no one should be causing physical harm to anyone. But yet, she does the same thing to her half-sister & nephew.

Tony is right. Some are subject to media bombardment more than others. A couple of stories here and there is not the same as 24/7 exposure.
And there are NFL examples too. There was Brett Favre's sexual harassment story that caused one woman to lose her job after rejecting his advances. They had proof via cell phone pics of his junk and text messages but other than paying a small fine nothing was done. He wasn't suspended and we certainly didn't have three weeks of seeing his face and hearing about him every single time the tv or radio is turned on.
Same with Big Ben. It was the Steeler organization that prompted Goddell to act, not the NFL or the media.
Neither of those players got the 24/7 treatment.
Incognito is probably the closest thing to what happened to Rice and Petersen, but that was due to internal team dynamics.

It's not uncommon for the bullied (Hope) to become the bully. I've seen it first hand.

Ray Rice was given a pass, by the Goodell, the Ravens, many in the press, and the local district attorney until, the TMZ tape.
Will wait, that's not entirely accurate...
Mr. Goodell and Ravens owner knew what was on the tape, but they chose to lie and cover up the facts. As long as "we" only saw a segment of the video all party's involved spinned the story, hinting that the victim was a participant in, and instigator in getting her ass knocked out.
Did any of these things happen in the Solo case, no? Rice would have been playing football after the second week if it wasn't for TMZ. Any smoking gun video in Solo's case, no? It's a customary she said, her sister said, and her nephew said. The same he said she said bullshit, for which many were willing to accept in the Rice case -"what did she do". We now know, there has been up-teem cases of NFL players beating the shit out of girlfriends and wives; they all had been given a pass, until now. So, less stop with this silliness. If we wanna talk about the double standard of how woman and men are treated as it relates to domestic abuse fine. If you want to speak about the double standard about child abuse as it relates to how many parents are very seldom prosecuted, fine. If you wanna speak to the instances where fame and money shield some but hang others out to dry, fine. Cough cough... Floyd Mayweather... cough.
Nobody was talking about abuse of any kind, until a gossip internet company posted, "the video".
Damn! I got to get new glasses! I swear when I read the title of this post, I read "Hans Solo Gets a Pass..." and I was looking for a picture of him and kept wondering who the picture of the chick was?

That's true, and with respect to the district attorney, Rice got preferential treatment that less than 1% of others in his position get. So definitely, with respect to the law, Ray Rice got way more of a "pass" than Hope Solo
Ray Rice and Adrian Peterson are black men. Hope Solo (and "Big Ben") are caucasian. End of story.
So how do you explain the pass Ray Rice got? He was given a deal by the prosecutor that has been given to less than 1% of men accused of the same thing as Rice.
But yet, Hope Solo hasn't gotten any kind of deal like that. As it stands now, there's no Preventative Treatment/this goes off your record deal offered to Solo, like the one that Rice got.
Tony was very specific...he said a pass from the NEWS MEDIA. Not the prosecutor or the league or the butcher, the baker or the candlestick maker...THE NEWS MEDIA.
Again, a couple of stories here and there is not the same as 24/7 media bombardment for three weeks straight.
Why are people trying to act brand new...stop moving the goal post and reply to what he actually said.

Well, UncleJam's answer is "Because Ray Rice is black". So I AM responding to what UncleJam said. Because Ray Rice clearly DIDN'T get a pass from the media, but clearly DID get one from the law.
I don't think the answer "Because Ray Rice is black" applies to both situations. So if it doesn't apply to both situations, then it likely doesn't apply to either situation.

My comment was general and not directed at anybody in particular...that's why I didn't quote anyone.
