To be specific, the emtional abuse I was referring to was more of a constant fear. Like a bully walking through a house, with a tone of "don't F with me" , he gets what he wants and listens to no one, no one's needs matter but his own.

Fear is what the kids think when they see him not love, the type of fear that makes the family want to clear the room whe he enters it, the same fear the mother exhibits when she approaches him in disagreement. Must have taken much bravery on mom's part to seek the authorities.


I really feel like these players live in a testosterone fueled angry world of who can piss the furthest, who's the toughest, who is the meanest..... and the biggest asshole wins.

Same reason why Aaron Hernandez was allowed to be part of a team despite his thuggish behavior since day one, he is no different, yet many are quiet how he is being treated. Aaron will deserve what ever the law throws at him, and so too does any other guy who acts on his anger and sets aside moral in dealing with his "loved ones".

Are thes black men being made examples of? Who gives a damn... they are black and know all too well the racial climate in America, they should know better and do better. They struggle through and overcome many obstacles in their youth just to act like fools now? Why should these men be treated any different than any other man who CHOOSES to do wrong? Just because they are celebrated athletes does not mean they will not be held accountable to their deeds, to who much is given, much is required. It is a biblical standard that does apply in our secular world. These men are paid a lot of money, they gain endorsements and the public fuels their paychecks.... piss off the public and there is hell to pay. The Lance Armstrong and Petreas situations should have shown them that they too will get treated in an absolute manner. The public wants athletes that behave like heroes regardless of how irrational it may be, and the NFL caters to that ideal.

These men deserve no consideration other than a good stint in anger management courses and a good humbling so they can stop behaving as if others around them do not matter. These men should have been more thoughtful before acting out in anger.

I'm talking about the emotional abuse that comes from calling your child names, belittling them, shaming them, shouting and intimidation, etc. You know, what many parents wouldn't dare do to any of their 'friends' but have no problem using these methods against a child. Once again we have a situation where Houston's Worst Lawyer - Rusty Hardin - has screwed his client over so bad. And all in the name of self-publicity for Hardin.

Rusty Hardin is the guy that let Roger Clemens testify before Congress, and we know how that worked out. Oh sure, Clemens was found not guilty, but the point was that he should have never been on trial. Hardin should have never let Clemens testify before Congress (which was Clemens' own idea. He was never subpoenaed) but he did for one reason and one reason only - Hardin knew he would be sitting right behind Clemens during the testimony, and wanted the publicity for himself.

Now we have Adrian Peterson. I have been an Adrian Peterson fan for 10 years. His story in college - coming back from multiple broken bones - was awe-inspiring. What a running back. And his father was in prison but was giving Peterson good advice when he could. Then, Peterson's father got out of prison in time to watch Adrian play for the first time ever. On the last play of the game, Peterson dove into the endzone on a 53-yard TD run and broke his collarbone, ending his college career.

It was just an incredible story, and you couldn't help but like Peterson and root for him. At least, I couldn't help it.

Now, Peterson has done wrong. No doubt about that. But he's compounding his problems because of the crappy advice from Hardin.

Hardin has Peterson trying to make excuses for what he did by saying "I only did what I was done to when I grew up". Like that's some kind of excuse for a grown man! That BS negates any contrition that Peterson might show.

All Peterson should have said was, "I made a mistake. I am a man and I take full responsibility for that mistake, and I will get the help necessary to make sure it never happens again".

But no. He hired Houston's Worst Lawyer, and got the kind of advice one gets from Houston's Worst Lawyer. And now Peterson has been dumped by numerous sponsors, and suspended indefinitely.

I am sure that the excuse-making advice Hardin gave Peterson (and repeated in his own statements) is at least partly responsible for this.

Hell, that happened to me personally - in 1995! We got a jury verdict against us in federal court for $40,000,000 which, let's just say, fell into the range above.

The judge threw it out, but not because it was excessive.

So I know for a personal fact that in federal court you can get whacked for as much as the jury wants to whack you for.

I think it's because of the discussion about cultural difference but they interviewed whites from the South who said they grew up with the same kind of discipline method/whoopings that Peterson apparently did.
