"Casey Kasem, the legendary radio DJ and original host of American Top 40, died Sunday morning.

His daughter, Kerri Kasem , saying he had died surrounded by friends and family.

"Even though we know he is in a better place and no longer suffering, we are heartbroken," Kasem said.

Besides being a king maker in the music industry, Kasem was also a voice actor. He voiced cartoon characters like Shaggy on Scooby-Doo and also several of the Transformers on TV."

In honor of Casey Kasem, here's his long distance dedication.



He always signed off American Top 40 by saying "Keep your feet on the ground and keep reaching for the stars." He has now reached those stars. RIP Casey.

RIP Casey. I used to listen to his shows on the radio.

his influence during my teen & erly twen years was enormous, it can not even be overestimated

I used to follow AT40 religiously every week, first over MF and/or shortwave radio (AFN adn alike) later it was finally broadcast in glorious HiFi Stereo on Austrian Radio. for quite a while I used to write down and archive all charts, and I was recording endless hours of the show, I still have hundreds of audio tapes at home

RIP to the voice of AT 40, Shaggy, and other memorable characters! Iheartradio is airing classic America's Top 40 right now. I'm listening to 1975 right now.
