4 month ban for a third offence for Suarez is not enough.

Don't worry, I'm sure he will misbehave again and face another ban before the upcoming season is over. lol

That was actually just last year. He did it a few years ago as well when with Ajax. He's unhinged.

Funny thing is that before that he seemed pretty normal. Before Ajax he didn't even dive that much. Looks like he can't handle the money, fame and pressure that comes with being a star player. The bigger he gets, the crazier he acts.

4 months is way too harsh

what about those frightening, nearly bone-crushing tackles that go unnoticed/unpunished?

FIFA= scum

I think it's a bit overdramatized and too much focus on Suarez.

There is a lot of kicking each others ankles and legs, and that is way more harmfull than this bite.

I guess it's a good subject to make fun of, but I think there should be more attention for foul play.

99% of my posts are ironic. Maybe this post sides with the other 1%.

The thing is a dangerous mistimed tackle is part of the game. It's hard to prove intent. Running over to a stranger from behind off the ball and biting them is not part of the game, it's criminal assault and if you did that on the street you'd spend the night in a cell. It's the third time he's done it and his "4 month ban" includes 2 months of no competitive football so I really don't understand the objection. How have we gone so wrong in society when some of us see this kind of assault as no big deal.

Brazil 1 (3) Chile 1 (2) F/PK

OMG! omg omfg shocked I don't think Brazil thought they would be possibly heading out this early in the World Cup. The fans should thank their licky stars for Julio Cesar, because after Chile tied the game, frankly Brazil looked rattled and didn't play well at all.

whew

Netherlands 2 Mexico 1

Yikes. Mexico had this game in the bag but started playing not to lose in the 80th minute. They should have known the Dutch were going to be aggressive, but they lost their concentration. doh! bawl

I understand that it was really hot and humid, but they had a water break at the 75th minute. Plus this weather isn't something the Mexican team hasn't experienced in their home country. If anything, the Dutch team should have been gassed and playing like zombies, but they were the ones who hung in there and got the victory.

All I'm saying is that I don't think think they intentionally fell back as much as they did, but they simply didn't have the power to keep pressure on the Dutch defence. The Dutch didn't gass out because they didn't waste as much energy as the Mexicans did the first 60 mins or so. The Dutch players have been exposed to high temperatures for about 5 weeks now. Their bodies have adapted to these conditions (except for the humidity perhaps). Sure it's never been this extreme, but on the other hand how much experience did the Mexican team have at playing in these extreme conditions against world class players?

And of course luck has been on our side. Not going to deny that. lol

Heartbreaker for Greece! And they had Costa Rica with 10 men for what amounted to half the match.

What's the opposite of "Opa!!!!!"????

Not only Costa Rica is a very good team overall, but they also have, probably, the best penalty takers (5/5 wow) AND a good goalkepper; wow, the dutch are going to suffer

Nah, 65/35 ball possession in favor of Holland (for this first time this WC) and an easy 2-0 victory. wink

That play Germany ran on the free kick at the end of regulation was AWESOME! If only it had worked!

And Germany ALMOST had their own - albeit not quite as long - version of the Robin Van Persie Header.

If Germany can hold on for fifteen more minutes....

Both Algeria and Nigeria put up vailant efforts, particually Algeria who's counter attack really exposed Germany's risky high line in defending.

France do seem to have a swagger and I just have a gut feeling they might beat Germany.

They seem to be a brand new side after the debacle of 4 years ago LOL and seem fearless. Not that Germany will give them an easy ride LOL.

In general, every time the world cup comes around, the smaller teams get better generally and close the gap to the big teams and this year is no exception.

Makes for great games though and this world cup has been great so far. Particually the group stages which can be dull and rather tepid...

Iam edging on Begium to beat USA. Only thing against Belguim is that they have not been really tested yet!

Compared to USA's hard as nails "group of death", Belgium's ride through has been very easy. The easiest group in the competition I'd say. USA are now more than ready to take them on. Could be an interesting game. People from the US should note that Belguim have some talent in their team so don't judge them so quick....

....I saw that Obama watched the USA v Germany game. Pretty cool how (finally) USA is getting into watching football.

I just hope they don't switch off if they go LOL.

And oh how I would love Columbia to take out Brazil. That should be a hell of a game as Columbia are the real surprise in this world cup.....

4 months + media circus for a bloodless bite, but this guy (Matuidi) gets away with this:

the victim has his left tibia, fibula and ligaments completely severed
