We'll file this picture in the what was I thinking category

Proving that I was a fam before being fam was cool I decided to get a perm in 5th grade to look more like Prince.

Unfortunately the only picture I could find from this era didn't showcase the true extent of the loose fro. This is my school picture and I remember that my mother made me get a little hair cut and comb the curly locks before picture day. I was pissed because she cut all the curls off the side of my head and I didn't look anything like Prince anymore. Also, Prince would have never worn that boring shirt.

Still I thought I would share this picture since it is showcasing some truly great hair. This picture should be used in salon's as a warning to white people who want to get a perm big grin

But to me this picture is so bad that it is cool lol

Also, last night as I was looking through old pictures with a friend he commented that I certainly owned a lot of Prince shirts through the years.

It was very true as it seemed that the staple for me in my elementary and junior high days was a Prince t-shirt.

I'm telling you I was the first fam.

I see nothing wrong with that picture, it's very cute. It's not even overboard.

Yeah, it probably is less shocking to people who don't know me. Me and my friend were cracking up last night.

I just thought it was funny that I got a perm in an attempt to look like Prince big grin

I think we all tried to look like a celebrity at one time or another. Nothing at all wrong with it. We really should look back at this time with a fondness for the innocence we all possessed back when we are more carefree about life.

That's a very good point and I agree completely, but then I go to Paisley Park or a Prince concert and realize that some people are never able to grow out of this phase lol

Indeed.

Then look at them as people who still possess some of those childhood qualities that made us all happier. I remember how aloof I would feel when I was pretending to be Cher, singing Half-Breed in front of my mirror...

I miss it. In fact, I still do my own thing. biggrin

I'm not sure I agree with this exactly. It's okay to have childhood qualities, but I don't think losing touch with who you are is the same thing. Perhaps we are talking about different things.

Some of the people I see at Paisley want to be Prince and have lost total touch with reality. They have nothing else besides Prince because they themselves are nothing but a fake extension of Prince and his persona. I find it extremely sad and scary.

I realize that this is not you and I would very much love to see you pretending to be Cher sometime. I'm getting all hot and bothered just thinking about it big grin
