Mekhi Phifer has filed for bankruptcy, TMZ reports.

The ER actor filed last April, claiming $67,000 in assets, including a leather bed and 12-year-old Segway. According to the legal documents, Phifer spends approximately $11,600 a month, though he only makes $7,500.

Phifer has amassed a debt of around $1.2 million in back taxes, $50 thousand in attorney bills and $4,500 in back child support.

That's what I'm sayin'. How is the guy a well known, popular actor but only makes $90 grand a year? That doesn't add up at all. Sounds like some "creative accounting" is going on.

When I met Mekhi Phifer years ago on Hollywood Boulevard we had a cup of coffee and he was nothing butt nice to me. We talked about muscle cars and Indonesian food and diffrent engine types and weather he likkes the new Ford Mustanfg or the Charger....he told me it´s all about the low compreshion motor. becuz the truth is that you may be able to get away with boost for a littel while, butt it will eventally kill the car. Put your money toward building a strong foundashion for the rest of the car. Take your time and build sumthing up you can be proud of. In a few yearss maybe you'll have a second more reliable car and you can get wild with this one. butt, onestly, i think Fords suck ass ...then again..i luv me sum 70s Fords...espeshially some of those Mustangs..butt sum of those suck ass too...we all know that...right?

If the "Celebrity Networth" site is close to being accurate the Brotha is worth $8 Million. He filed bankruptcy to protect himself when the collectors come for him. He's in the same boat as Toni Braxton. They got money but they owe creditors more money than the Millions they have in the bank. Living above their means. I bet he's hiding his cash like Toni is hiding hers...
