Michael Sam is getting a reality show Michael Sam, drafted by the St. Louis Rams, is about to get his own reality show on Oprah's network. What do you guys think about this? Will this be a distraction for him or just a back up plan in case he doesn't make the final roster for the Rams?

Is it reality-based? Yes, but it's a Documentary that simply Follows his life leading up to his signing a deal with The Rams. Once he signs a contract then Oprah will turn it into a Reality show.

Most of the articles that I have read refer to this project as a reality show. A few websites have referred to this as a documentary. I just wonder what effect this is going to have on him as a person and as an athlete. I wonder how much they will interview his boyfriend as well... Trolls be gone!

I think it's a reflection of the society we live in. It doesn't take much to get famous. All it takes is a viral video, a sextape or some random appearance on a different reality show that will launch your solo career...I think it's pretty clever that they are journaling his life way before he picks up the football. I am pretty sure the Rams will select him for the team. Trolls be gone!

You're right...All the Major Media Shows refered to it as a "Reality Show"...Oprah has postponed it cuz the Media has given the project LIP...They say it will be a distraction and Michael is using it to garner a big paycheck and more fame. All of that is a valid argument but I wonder had HBO-Sports struck the deal BEFORE Oprah would anyone have cried Bloody Murder? Keep in mind HBO's Hard-Knocks Reality Series follows the team every year. Having cameras during training is nothing new. Having Oprah's Cameras on the field IS new and that's why people went after the Project.... ********************************************************************************** No one would have said a word had HBO-Sports wanted to follow Michael during his training...

That's an interesting way of looking at this. Perhaps they didn't want Oprah meddling with stuff that pertains to the NFL. They all know that she's probably the single most powerful woman on the planet who probably is getting used to people saying yes instead of no. Yes, the media was initially saying it was a reality show and then it became a "documentary"....those are like night and day in terms of how they are produced, edited, etc. I think they could have worked something out where he does interviews or whatnot but it seems the Rams have put almost a total postponement of the project. Should he make the final roster (which I'm sure he will) then they might pick up with the reality show. I don't think the Rams are going to suffer much just because Sam gets a reality show.
