It was good, and some of the scenery was truly awesome, but it had potential for a much better film. I never saw the original. I wonder if Ben Stiller should have stepped away in favor of a more believable actor.

I was given the DVD to watch by a co-worker who now - since telling her of my Amsterdam-via-Iceland trip - calls me "Mitty".
lol

Iceland? Really? lol

I'm flying in via Icelandair.
They give you extended layovers...so I have like 8 hours to kill in Iceland.
I'm gonna try to check out the Blue Lagoon.

And take thousands of pictures.
They have buses that go from the lagoon directly to the airport. nod

Interesting, and very entertaining. Straight after watching I would have given this movie 3 stars, but having time to think it over...I loved it. smile

Seemed to me that this was quite a cheaply made movie - and it showed. also, after watching 12 years a slave this movie really doesn't hold up. Nothing much happens...really

starstarstarstarstar

One of the greatest movies I have ever seen...just wow.

Acopcalypse Now - I love the extended version better than the theatrical release. One of my three favorites from the 70's along with The Deer Hunter and The Godfather.

The Wolf of Wall Street I didn't expect to really like, but I loved it. May watch today. Although Apocalyse Now would also be a good one. Have to see if I can find the time.

I know. What ever happened to it's okay to agree to disagree?

Because this is the Org and alternate opinions are not welcomed. You think like the crowd or else.

Mods seem to enforce it so . . .

four stars starstarstarstar this movie is like ten little indians on steroids. i couldn't even guess whodunnit until the bitter, creepy end. great cast including ll cool j, val kilmer and christian slater, excellent script. kinda grisly in parts but enjoyably so, if you've desensitized yourself sufficiently for the genre. recommend for a good scare

Hmmm I was disappointed when I saw this when it was released. I watched it a second time and liked it less.

Intolerance: Love's Struggle Throughout the Ages (1916) - The story of a poor young woman, separated by prejudice from her husband and baby, is interwoven with tales of intolerance from throughout history.

Epic in terms of the sets and overall production. Very impressive for its time. star star star 1/2

seven starz out of five, this movie is a must watch for anyone living in america, especially those who doubt that there are conspiracies afoot to control american society. the film explains how we come to be living in a world of corrupt banks, military and politics, to name a few, and also tells us what to do about it. not to mention, woody harrelson is an absolute hottie mushy i'd love to caress his big old brain it's so functional and all

Sin City (2005) - A film that explores the dark and miserable town, Basin City, and tells the story of three different people, all caught up in violent corruption.

It looks amazing, but the plot and dialogue work better as a graphic novel. star star star 1/2

Under The Skin (2013) - An alien seductress preys upon hitchhikers in Scotland.

Very cool film. I can see its slow pace not appealing to many people though. I immediately thought of Stanley Kubrick while watching it not knowing beforehand that his name is often brought up in reviews of the movie. The score is great too. star star star star 1/2 (out of five)

Will only be on DVD in Germany. I'm pissed.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (2014)

The movie would have been fine (and possibly better) with only Electro as the villain. star star star

Saving Mr. Banks. I loved seeing how it happened because of course I knew the film would be made, but that done, I probably won't watch it again. 3.5/5.

Major disappointment.

Where do they get these writers and producers?

Who thought this was acceptable?

As bad as Spiderman 2.

We aren't going to see someone else's relationship displayed on screen. There are chick flicks for that. To think you are drawing a larger audience by taking all the action out an action flick is stupid.

^ if you like dark, dark comedy, there is a funny movie called 'Good Neighbors' which is really about bad neighbors. Good Neighbours is a 2010 Canadian black comedy-drama/thriller film which was written and directed by Jacob Tierney based on the book by Chrystine Brouillet. definitely recommend.

oooo, careful there! never know whether a friend of the writer or producer is a prince fan and will end up attacking you to retaliate against you for expressing your opinions! smile neutral

Really interesting movie... Hitchcock was far ahead of the game. And that set design is beautiful

fart

They really f*cked it up.

I hate to say this, but Pacific Rim made for a better "Godzilla movie".

This one was more like; "Kickass loses parents, Joins the Army, Battles Cloverfield Cousins, & Helps Little Lost Asian Boy."
