Riddick poster.jpg

Riddick 3.3/5 Even though I'm one of those people who liked Chronicles over Pitch Black and this was more like PB with a barest throwback to CoR, I enjoyed it as part of the franchise.

LUV film poster.jpg

LUV 3.5/5 I liked it most for the kid in it, I would have liked it more except for the ending which was predictable and over dramatic. It was very nice seeing the veteran actors though. You know I'd love so much to visit that market in Baltimore, but I'm terrified of going to Baltimore, a whole other world.

The Book Thief (2013) - While subjected to the horrors of World War II Germany, young Liesel finds solace by stealing books and sharing them with others. In the basement of her home, a Jewish refugee is being sheltered by her adoptive parents.

I found it to be too schmaltzy. And I subtracted 1/2 star because all the German characters spoke in English. That's a pet peeve in movies for me. star star 1/2

PURE SHIT.

Now, I would say that I have a pretty healthy tolerance for nonsensical movies. Sometimes there's nothing like a banal, slapstick, mindless movie. That pretty much sums up most Adam Sandler films, I know, but GU2 was pure shit.
Makes Jack & Jill seem deep & inspired by comparison.

The only reason I gave it a star?...Salma Hayek.

i'm sure they can wink and for that matter, backups of this entire website no doubt exist as well. anyway, in the past, i've been criticized heavily for my 'reviews'. this time around, i decided not to make a huge issue over nothing. much. smile

here's the thing. i did delete my (i thought) humorous montage in a cowardly fashion after my e-mail was hacked recently. you see, when i posted my reviews above, i was having fun making a point in a passive aggressive way. it pisses me off that i have to second guess myself, but i have no wish to endanger my sweet little birds here at home.

here it is: i still think that arrogant fucks, like successful writers for example, who go out of their way to exact revenge against strangers for slights against their pride are tossers. seriously? taking offense over something posted HERE on prince.org??? of all places???

you see, back in 2009 i was personally attacked because here on prince.org i participated in a 'favorite books' thread and said i hate edward cullen's stalker character in twilight. this was back in 2007-8. (by the way guys?? the secret is out about the twilight series, and guess what - it appears that quite a few people agree with me on that one.)

that being said, i deleted my earlier posts on this thread because i have no desire to see my residence broken into again, my car vandalized again, to have folks stopping by at all hours of the night again, to be harassed by phone calls at all hours again, to be followed by some messed up crazy blonde bitch and to be pilloried in a book written by someone whose, well, let's just say i love, respect and understand dude, but there's some hectic DNA involved in his heritage.

don't get me wrong, those who know the full story (friends, family, attorneys) agree with me - what happened was just plain fucked up. the work of people who have lost their way. but you see, these folks are still here on the org, still domineering and demanding silence from those whose opinions differ. so be careful what you write when you critique movies and especially books. you never know who here is nuts enough to take offense

well, you see, here's the thing. i've been posting here for a really long time, using the same name Xx all along. it's not hard for the rest of you to see how often i am an ass and make rude jokes which are at times not entirely appropriate. in fact in recent months i've been exploring the world of online publishing, and writers message boards. i see now that in this context, i was wrong to say what i did back then. some would even say i earned what happened.

back in 2007-8, on one of those 'books you've read lately' threads here at the org, i mocked the twilight books and disparaged edward cullen's character as a creepy stalker and a case study in who not to date. how was i to know that fans of twilight are prince fans too? i am truly sorry s___, that was badly done of me.

then again, it's a few years later and as it turns out i'm not the only one who noticed that edward cullen is not exactly a role model for romance. the point i had hoped to make was that i come from an abusive family background and i recognize edward as someone to steer clear of. guess i didn't do a very good job of making that particular point.

for what it's worth, at this point i'll just say that just as long as my car or condo don't go boom and etc., nothing happens. however if something nasty happens to me again, i've left instructions. ooo. thrilling eh? it's almost like something out of a horror novel hey smile biggrin

i know. the thing sounds nuts doesn't it. and i really thought it was all over, a one off kind of thing that happened a while back. but not long ago, earlier this year while i was exploring the world of online publishing i came across one of my books on one of those websites where they don't even ask you if you want them to list your work, it's just there. someone else had linked to my books as the author.

someone had replaced the original cover art of one of my books with bloodstains and a sword. in order for me to reclaim the copyright and change the cover art, i had to provide my online contact information to the website handler. not long after that, all roughly 1,763 or so of my 'permanently deleted' emails reappeared in my 'recently deleted' email box. everything i'd sent or received since what, june of 2009? was back in style. somehow smile

coincidence? could be. but my security company has advised me that it's best to take it seriously, treat it as though it's an actual threat. i mention it as a way of explaining my back and forth feelings on this subject.

i guess it's probably too much to ask, but leave me and mine alone, you assholes. hug loves you anyway, you crazy freak. and now, i think that's about it from me, unless someone has something to say?

um, ps redface sorry about that wiki thing. momentary flash of anger and all that y'know

Terms and Conditions May Apply (2013) Poster

this is crazy scary. most of us already know from what julian assange and edward snowden have told us that our government in america and elsewhere is working overtime to collect data on us. what we may not be aware of is that the NSA is now acting preemptively against people, actually sending SWAT teams to the homes of those whose Iphone use, twitter commentary, facebook posts and other social media entries triggers 'red flags'. this is enough to make a person want to delete their entire web history, if only that were possible. highly recommend

For a mindless comedy film...it's not that good. Not worth $13.00 =<

Loved it! Way better than the 1962 version. I'm gonna have to watch it again some time this weekend. I heard Nabokov himself didn't quite like the Kubrick's movie adaptation, wonder how he would've reacted to this one...

four stars starstarstarstar this movie is like ten little indians on steroids. i couldn't even guess whodunnit until the bitter, creepy end. great cast including ll cool j, val kilmer and christian slater, excellent script. kinda grisly in parts but enjoyably so, if you've desensitized yourself sufficiently for the genre. recommend for a good scare

Nice cinematography. Cute dog. Greta Gerwig is always likable. Stiller plays an asshole very convincingly (and that makes the movie uncomfortable to watch, at times). Pretty realistic. Not for everybody.

always great chemistry when morgan freeman and ashley judd team up. good, strong female role model here. she's kidnapped by a stalker, but escapes, leads the cops to him and helps rescue his other captives.

i love that the plot is a switch up from the usual 'women being attacked/stalked/held hostage/raped' theme which so often passes for entertainment in today's world.

this theme of woman as victim/man as (romantic) stalker imo represents the systematic disempowerment of the female gender in a world where one in four will be abused by their significant other. it is so commonplace that women today have themselves internalized the message. i object to that and this is why i find ashley's character truly refreshing.

If you liked any of these following movies in the past; "Hangover", "The Grown Ups" or "We Are the Millers" - then you will really enjoy this one. This movie gives you exactly what you would expect from a rated R comedy film...at the same time it also makes you realize Hollywood is going further and further regarding how far is too far in an adult comedy film..

At the end the movie shows what Zac Efron would've done for a living if he had never become an actor lol!

-

Also....Prince is mentioned in the beginning. Briefly but I got excited!

It was good, and some of the scenery was truly awesome, but it had potential for a much better film. I never saw the original. I wonder if Ben Stiller should have stepped away in favor of a more believable actor.

I was given the DVD to watch by a co-worker who now - since telling her of my Amsterdam-via-Iceland trip - calls me "Mitty".
