Among other things, I used to collect the soaps and shampoo bottles from hotels. I had everything from budget places like Microtel to upscale establishments like Hilton.
My box full of these items really bugged my wife, and one day I made some offhand comment like, "Oh, maybe someday I'll donate it all to a homeless shelter or something." She took my comment as permission to give my collection to the nuns at the church affiliated with her school, who were collecting items for charity.
