All These Quakes In Southern California.

I'm not one to worry much... cause ever since i moved her in 2009. We had talks of the ''big one'' lol

But, i am getting somehat curious as of late. In a week we had a 4.4, then last night a 5.1 with some aftershocks, then today a 4.4 and some afterhsocks. We have been having a lot quakes close together. And there is lots of talk of a big one coming... and i kind of feel it in my bones. That a big one is coming... i am going to start stocking up on water, food and other stuff.

Any other orgers out in Socal?

I'm afraid i'm not christian. So this passage isn't really doing much for me. Earthquakes and foor shortages happen just about every single year. Don't think it's a sign of the end times just yet smile

Strangely enough i didn't feel the 5.1 yesterday. I did feel the 4.4 in Westwood since i live there. Then today there was a 4.4. Just makes me wonder if something bug could be coming our way.

I need to change out my emergency backpack, though its not basically for earthquakes it'll help in a pinch. Always have cash on hand and gas in you car. I learned that when the electrical gird went out. That was a lesson and a half.

I was in LA during the Whittier quake that was a scary ride.

Doesn't regular small earthquakes diminishes the chance of the "Big One"?

That's what i thought as well. But others are saying the big one from 94 had small ones happening one after the earth for days. Then BOOM.

If you done research of past history events such as starvation, droughts, earthquakes, civil unrest/wars through out the world, you'd also know that each period (especially over the last 200 years) is arrogant enough to think that they are going through Matthew 24:7, let alone the 7 horseman.(Let me tell you they were wrong.) I'm not saying it isn't going to happen some day, just not now.

5.9. It did quite a bit of damage I remember even though it wasn't that big. Never been in one a big as the Oakland quake that was 6.9 collapsed freeways. That was 2 years after Whittier.

haha like you I'm fairly new to California as well. My friends told me that's how you can tell whether the person is Angelino or not. Most Angelinos seem to have this attitude; "meh, when the big one hits and that's how we all die, so be it.".....so cool like that. I on the other hand am worrying if Nevada is going to be the new west coast soon...=(

Supposedly, scientists have stated that there is a 99% chance of a 6.7 magnitude quake striking Cali within the next 30 years.

Honestly where can you live where you will never have to deal with "Mother Nature". You got slides, floods, hurricanes, fires, tsunamis, monsoons, volcanoes, tornadoes, did I miss something?

There would have the be thousands and thousands of smaller earthquakes to avoid the Big One.

I forgot about the Northridge one. I was nowhere near there at the time. That was bad. To think that's not what the scientist are talking about when they say the big one.

That depends. It could relieve stress through the region or just on one fault. They could be transferring the stress triggering quakes on other faults. So . . . I guess geologist can guess, but short of that, I'd say it could go either way. Diffusing a big one or setting up a big one.

I was in that one. I was about three miles from the freeway, downtown Oakland. Heard the freeway collapse. Wondered what could be making so loud a sound. On a normal workday, I could have been on that freeway. I lived in downtown Oakland. We were allowed to leave work early for the World Series. I'd just finished jogging Lake Merritt and thought I was getting nauseous. Then seed pods from the tree starting raining down on me. I looked up to see building swaying and realized it was a big quake. The booms started just before the shaking stopped.

I agree. But where it strikes will be key.

Scientists are concerned with animals evacuating yellowstone... could all those tiny quakes in Cali be related to magma shifting and an indicator of an eruption of yellowstone's dormant volcano?

That would be my guess anyways.... hmmm
