Ethical difference between pornography and prostitution and laws about them???

High smile

In most developping countries both prostitution and the production of pornography are illegal and in some developped countries both are legal, but there are quite a number of countries (France being one of 'em) who will ban prostitution and at the same time allow the porn industry to produce porn films in perfect legality.

And this brings me to wonder...? Why is it immoral or bad or evil to pay someone to have sex with YOU and absolutely moral and fine to pay someone to have sex with SOMEONE ELSE?

I fail to see the difference, really.

Not sure if this belongs in G&D or P&R by the way so mods feel free to move it if u think I'm on the wrong 4um.

Opinions?

Prostitution has existed for thousands of years - it serves a purpose
Not having it as a legal thing means it's underground and not managed or controlled properly allowing spread of std and abuse of the women

Both prostitution and porn exist as a result of demand

Neither will ever go away and both should be governed by tight rules to control all negative aspects which affect the health and well-been of all of the individuals involved

porn is usually viewed both as a job and as cinema; raunchy and crappy cinema, yes, but an "industry" nonetheless

the fact that many countries don't legalize prostitution is beyond me...it would be better for everyone involved...prostitution will never go away, so you might as well legalize it

if there should be criminality attached to any of it, it should be porn.

BUT it is an industry. prostitution is outlawed NOT for any moral reason

but because no gov. wants to be seen as the PIMPS they really are.

if they could industrialize prostitution they would, and it would be

the same as porn... everybody watchin lol

i think some don't want it legal because they wouldn't/couldn't bare

to know how badly their loved ones would want to get into it,

on the whoe side of it. or when they on the creep with a hooker

have to dodge their wife and her 'john' eek lol

It's sort of funny because obviously many of those guys that run porn sites are the ones having sex with the women and they're paying those women too. So what's really the difference? That the guys themselves are willing to appear on the video or something?

No, I don't think prostitution should be illegal and it isn't in the country I live in. Regardless, a greater percentage of prostitutes working in Europe come from poorer countries and there's certainly a lot of questionable aspects involved with the whole thing.

A prostitute can stand out in front of your house. Disease can be passed along and taken home, there some really pissed off people in this world. It can physically impact your offspring in some way. I mean there are reasons. But mainly its just been easier to hold the gate on prostitution than on porn, many have tried. There are legal brothels in Nevada, I don't think they generate enough cash to make other states even want to bother with all the regulations and the enforcement of them. Porn you can spent thousands and make millions on sheer distribution the health regulation only fall on the people in it, everybody else isn't affected or infected.
