This is something i wanted to talk about for awhile...

When men... well when ANYONE lies about their age it irks me. I have had more issues with men doing it... so here goes.

I was at a bar like... 2 and a half weeks ago. This dude starts talking too me, very nice guy and good conservationist. We start talking and he asked how old i was... too which i said 23. Then i asked his age, and there was a long pause. And, i knew some bullshit was coming. This was his response... i kid you not.

''Well, I'm learning a new practice. Of not letting age get in the way of friendships or relationships... it's my new years goal! and so far it's working. So, i'll tell you my age at the end of the year''

yeah, uh huh right right.

I had another guy who tried talking too me at the bar. Told me he was 26... homie was obviously way over 30. After 2 or 3 drinks he said he was 32... then he tried to add me on facebook. And, suddenly he is really 39. I had another guy do that when i was 19. I used to have some of those dating apps then. Like, Okcupid and stuff like that.

This guy said he was 28, then he was 34, then finally he told me he was 38. And, it's not just guys hitting on me. Guys at work, some of my friends, people i play music with etc. A lot of them lie about their age. I personally think that is some weak ass shit!

OWN who the fuck you are! that includes owning up to how fucking old you are. I feel it's immature as hell, that men older than me lie about their age. When someone lies about how old they are... it makes me not trust them as a person. What is your agenda? what do you have to hide?

I hear that there is this whole ''ageist'' mentality. And, sure that can be true sometimes. Lying about your age does not help that... no matter how much you think it does.

Some people lie to get ''younger dudes or chicks'' or to be friends with younger people. If your 45, 50, 55 etc. Why do you need to be friends with an 18 year old? seriously. Why do you only want younger friends? are you that fucking self conscious you can't be around people your own age. I see a lot of people doing this and it weirds me out.

Sure, maybe I'm an asshole on this subject. But... I don't care. I'm sick of people lying about their age. And, pretending their something their now. Own up to who the fuck you are, and quit being a self conscious bitch about your age.

I never lie about my age but I also don´t find it very important either. I feel physically much better than I did in my mid 20s due to working out better, knowing my body better and eating better, and still have lots of energy. I know people, men and women, who look at least a decade or two older than they actually are, but I also know people who look decades younger than they actually are ( a good female friend of mine is 70 now and seriously looks like she´s in her late 40s).

However, some women are very ageist and discriminate against men who are older than 30 or 35 even though they aren´t that hot themselves, either. So I understand why some men lie about their real age but I guess that´s what some people do due to age related pressure and discrimination in society.

From the men to women point. I have heard that is quite true. I myself am not straight, and can't comment on that I'm afraid. I'm sure it's true for the most part though...

With male on male type situations. A lot of older guys (40, 50, 60 or older) try to ONLY date, or only talk too younger guys. Guys my age or younger... sometimes those who are barely 18. Those guys make me really wonder. Why do you only want young friends? a huge shocker is... well, they have nothing in common. Many are just starting to finishing college... have student loans... trying to find their place in the world... and a man who is a few decades older than him. Has already found his place in life and is past that.

I knew a 19 year old who dated a 65 year old retired doctor. They had fights all the time... cause 19 year old wanted to go to the club. Wanted to go shopping, or do this activity etc. And the 65 year old guy did not want too... and they argued all the damn time. That guy also lied about his age... he was like 77 or 78

Men who only want to date people decades younger than them. Or want to only date people decades younger than them... and lie about their age. Lose all respect from me, i don't care how young they look. It's still something your lying about, and can't accept within yourself.

I agree something seems just plain right in people being forthright about traits like this. That said, I understand why some aren't -- whether regarding age, weight, ethnicity, etc. -- when we facilitate environments that value and devalue people based on these traits.

I wonder too. It happened to me when I was 18, serious relationship, said he was 29, actually was 39, the guy turned out to be an ass. Never fell for that again.

Yeah, when you´re 23 you don´t have to lie about your age, talk to you when your 55

I know there's a lot of ageism that goes on in our society. Youth is celebrated while maturity is frowned upon. It's a blessing to live to see another year so why lie about your age? Don't be ashamed. Be proud! If someone doesn't want to be your friend or be in a relationship with you because they feel you are too old then the hell with them. They're not worth your time. They are probably some silly, immature mother fucker anyway who will feel differently if they are lucky enough to live to see a certain age.

I've had to add a few years to my age on some occasions.

if you meet people in bars, you will get people who are on the prowl for quick sexual encounters, and who will likely lie to you and tell you what they think you want to hear because they're not looking for long-term. this is where they get drunk and play. they just want to bang you. so be wary in bars.

aside from that, lots of people lie/creatively inflate about lots of things to their significant others. it's par for the course and i think it's hard to find a person who is really honest. i kind of like getting older, because a certain amount of that type of 'courtship' BS becomes impossible after a certain age. some people get more comfortable about who they are once they realize aging is inevitable and stop trying to fool themslves and others

In all seriousness, I've never lied about my age. In fact people assume I'm younger than I am, so I'm cool with that.

When they see that I have a 15 y.o. son they're sometimes like

My dad aged very well, so I'm praying for those genes to have passed on to me.

If & when I get serious about the dating scene - I can't imagine that I would want to lie about my age.

...unless I get into my 50's and want to hook up with a twentysomething cheerleader...

I don't know which is sadder, men in their fifties running after cheerleaders in their twenties, or that someone is still a cheerleader in her twenties.

This is hardly an issue for heterosexual men. For an older man to be attracted to relative youth and beauty in a female...is related to fertility and has been the norm from the beginning of time, no need to lie about his age.

18-20 year old females constantly show indicators of interest to me as an older guy because well...not least because I look ridiculously young, but mainly because I'm in a relatively powerful position as compared to them...and women generally are attracted to power in a man...again this is the 'norm' for the majority of humankind.

Well, my Duddley Do Right shaved ten years off his age when I met him.

I figured out Detroit Police retired, three in the Navy, and ten in another police department just doesn't add up to mid-fifties. So I googled him and he was 66, I laughed. He ain't nothing like his age his mind and body is much younger. Ahem.

The gay community is very obsessed with youth though. To the point that it is... err kind of disturbing.

Everyone has different values and ideals. Too me a man lying about his age is not confident with who he was. Where he's at in life, or what he's accomplished in life. Especially if he's pretending he's 10-15 years younger

If he lies about something like that. Who's not to say he's lying about his job? his STD status? and many other things.

When i tell people that i just turned 40 they have a heart attack. "You look like you're 30!" Good genes, i guess.

At least your honest about it it's better too be honest about your age. Then hear ''omg you look 10 years younger'' then saying your 10 years younger... and people saying '' what you look older?'' oh... nah.. just... my genes man.

Mfers are always shocked when they find out I'm 53, especially the cats at my gym. They say I look 10-15 years younger.

^ lately the guy at my favorite thrift store keeps trying to give me the senior discount.
