I am, but I hate speaking it. People where I live speak French to me, I answer in English. It works because we both speak in the language we are most comfortable with...not much English/French discord in this area...well, not with the Acadians, anyway.

Yes he is and so are 2 other orgers I am friends with (MarySharon and jn2) but they don't post here anymore afaik.
I learned French at school, but don't remember much anymore

1. Don't try to translate things word for word either to or from French

2. Learn the rules for liason

3. Listening is fucking difficult so don't start with that

4. Learn the differentiation between:

Ce, Ceci, Cela, and Ça

Celui, Celle, Ceux, and Celles

Ce, Cet, Cette, and Ces

Impersonal Il

5. Aimer and Adorer can't be directly translated into like and love and both mean love or like depending on the sentence

6. Diacretics suck but are always necessary

7. Many words go against how you would expect it to be pronounced, so be careful of that

8. Although most sports can be shortened by removing the "ball" from the word, don't do this with baseball. Baise is the French "f"-word

9. 99% of the time refer to cats and dogs using masculine articles/words as the feminine forms mean pussy and bitch.

10. Never trust Canadians

thanks for the advice, even if right now I don't understand half of your post,

right now my objective is writing/reading, I'll probably never master speaking/listening...

I learnt French from this guy.
