If I'm not mistaken, it was last commercially available only on VHS. Crazy, eh? If you scour the internet, though, I'd imagine you could find a homemade conversion to DVD.

Ahh another Miyazaki classic! (I don't know why the first picture in my original post isn't showing...but that was Spirited Away =D my all time favorite) Really love this one too. I wasn't too crazy about Ponyo and Totoro but most of the time his works become instantly favorite of mine. His films have these extra layers most Disney films don't have that I get sucked into it too much that I almost get a headache after watching sometimes. Mononoke is one of those. It's so good it actually hurts. lol

Hunchback of Notre Dame I think is really an underrated Disney Film. I suppose because it was too different from the original and too adult to be a kids' film? It's really good though glad you mention this =D

It is dark but I loved it when I saw in theaters at age 11, I was mesmerized. I much prefered it to Little Mermaid/Beauty & The Beast/Aladdin/Lion King.

Allegro Non Troppo

It's an Italian answer to Fantasia, with famous bits of classical music aniumated into stories. Parts of it are almost a parody of Fantasia. The orchestra is entirely made up of old ladies, the conductor keeps fighting with the animator... I wandered into a theater not knowing what I was in for, when I was maybe 12 years old, and ended up staying to watch it three times.

The DVD includes a bunch of the creator (Bruno Bozetto)'s other cartoon shorts. One of my favorite DVDs.

This reminds me of another childhood favorite of mine, billed as Japan's answer to Fantasia. It was originally called Hoshi no Orufeusu , or "Orpheus of the Stars," a dialogue-free retelling of five Roman myths. Its 1978 U.S. release as Metamorphoses bombed, and it was re-released a year later as The Winds of Change with a disco-influenced soundtrack and English narration by Peter Ustinov. Interesting stuff.

Do you mean as a child or now? razz

I'm all cartooned out from my 3yo grandson... If they make one more Land Before Time I'm going to hang myself. But I still heart these two. I will watch them over and over.

And... heart heart heart

This isn't animated but it was one of MY children's faves and now it's one of my grandson's faves. We sing the song all the time. whistle
