Life After PI- How Hollywood is Destroying the Visual Effects Industry

A documentary about Hollywood destroying the visual effects industry through unfair business practices.

Rhythm & Hues, a 25 year old visual effects company won a best visual effects Oscar for Life of Pi, 11 days atfer they filed for bankruptcy. Hollywood film companies are dumping all of their cost overruns onto visual effects companies and forcing them to eat the losses. Visual effects artists are trying to unionize and every year at Oscar time they protest by using a green square as their avatar which symbolize the green screen used to fill in visual effects shots.

and I WISH Hollywood FINALLY destroys the visual effects industry

no more videogames pretending to be real-action movies, thank you

I call for a regeneration back to way they worked in the '80s and early '90s, with SOME small CGI key elements here and there (I'm thinking T-2, Jurassic Park, etc)

Check out the documentary if you have a chance. It lays out the structural problems within Hollywood that allows a lot of these bad movies to be made. Things like a movie going into post production visual effects without a finished third act. Visual effects decisions that are essentially removed from the director so you get incoherent results. Also you have countries luring film companies with tax sudsidies and forcing artists and effects companies to follow.
