Hilary Swank literally blown me away with her role in BDC, it's because I never knew of her (Wasn't too much into film at the time) and I thought she was a boy!!!

I'd add Charlize Theron in Monster, god, she delivered a very pro performance.

I need to see some of the films you listed such as Dennis the Menace & Dead Man Walking, they're on my watchlist so...

Thanks!

Denzel is such a good, good actor.

I like him in American Gangster too (As well as the roles you listed)

He's gifted. And oh, Flight last year had him in the last scene delivering some very touching acting.

I thought I'm the only one who considers Joaquin Phoenix's Johnny Cash role a great one, it's very decent & real. If it wasn't for the late Philip Seymour Hoffman's magnificent & pro role in Capote he should have won the oscar.

Also Jamie Foxx's Ray role was such a great & nice portraying.

Thanks everybody for the replies! Appreciate cha!

Tho it's strange nobody mentioned Daniel Day Lewis' There Will Be Blood acting eek eek

This scene is probably my ALL TIME favorite acting scene, it's like, when you see THIS, and then you see him doing Lincoln or the guy in Last of Mohicans, you just can't believe, HE LITERALLY became Plainview as it was written in the script.. A legendary performance.

Yes, I agree that Charlene was awesome in Monster. As for Dennis the Menace, it's a kids movie but I just love Walter in it. The boy that plays Dennis is priceless too. Not an Oscar worthy movie by no means, but funny and cute.

Yes, agree 100% though I still love him his portrayal of the character in both films. In the first Godfather, I love his transformation from civilian turned powerful head of an organized crime empire. In the second Godfather, it was all about Michael's ruthlessness. His coolness and calmness in handling his "business" is what makes me so attracted to his character. Pacino had the genius ability to portray this otherwise cold hearted criminal into a character that you still admired even though he was technically the "bad guy". If you get my drift. cool

Indeed, I do, there is a razor thin difference in the quality of his performances in I and II. And the difference is only in the eye of the beholder. smile

Performancewise there are just way too many actors and scenes (or whole films) to list here,

but Al Pacino in The Godfather will always be one of my favorites, or Larry Fishburne in Boyz N Tha Hood as Furious Styles, Stallone in Rocky I and VI (there, I said it lol ), or Mel Gibson in Mad Max II:The Road Warrior. Or Javier Bardem as Anton Cigurgh in No Country For Old Men. Samuel Jackson in Pulp Fiction...too many to name. And then there are certain scenes by actors that aren´t necessarily the best actors per se lol ....but I just LOVE these particular scenes and find them very memorable;

lol It´s just a great, great speech! lol

And of course, the great James Earl Jones ...

That´s a great list. I completely forgot about most of those great movies you mentioned on your list. Tom Cruise strikes me as a talented, very dedicated and hardworking actor and I can´t understand all the hatred or rather dislike he gets because I totally seperate between the actor and the person. However, as good as he is, I also don´t get why some people think he´s a genius.

(Not you in particular, I ´m just saying....you either read a lot of extremely negative views on him, or extremely over the top flattering stuff).

Selma Hayek was brilliant in Frida!

And Dog Day Afternoon....great movie. It´s been a while since the last time I watched it.

Ernest Borgnine in Marty

Humphrey Bogart in Casablanca

Marlon Brando in On the Waterfront

William Powell and Myrna Loy in The Thin Man (and pretty much anything they were in together)

Clark Gable in It Happened One Night
