How do you deal with them? My sister only calls or texts me when she wants to use my internet, ask for money, where she can get weed, favors, etc. She does it so much, that I just stopped answering the phone when she calls, because I know the first thing out her mouth is gonna be "I was gonna ask you..." or "I was wondering if you could give me..." or "Can I "borrow", which, I'm pretty sure the definition of the word "borrow" is lost on her. I love my sister VERY much, and I would do anything for her. But, she won't give me the chance to offer her things. She thinks because I don't give her what she asks for or bend to her will, that I'm being an asshole(typical female),but, I've explained to her more than once that I'm not her go to guy. Does anyone else have this type of problem? And if so, how do you handle people like this?

I simply don't give them what they want and then they stop calling to beg for stuff. Simple as that. You know that concept of "you show people how you want them to treat you"...really is true.

The scenerio is a bit different though. I have the power of guilt on my side. It's understood I have needs of my own, and the definition of borrow is well understood, too.

i have a lot of family like that, and i used to have friends like that too. i have cut those friends out of my life, because i refuse to be used anymore by people. and i've just flat out told my family members that i won't be used. they can take it or leave it. love, family, and friendship is a two way street, and i don't live on a one way road.

Yes and after an incident over the holidays and I am fully disgusted and have cut them out of my and my son's lives.

Yes, mine call me only when they want something.

Everytime my sister calls the first words out of my mouth are "what do you want"? .......... and then she goes to tell me what she wants.

My brother only calls me when he needs help lifting or moving something heavy.

Then if I don't show up right on time he complains about that.

We don't see each other too much these days.

Plus my wife hates his wife and visa versa.

Ahh the pleasures of family.

I have a cousin like that. A real selfish leech. Don't pay rent. Always trying to keep up with the Joneses. Will eat you out of house and home if givin' the opportunity. After it became apparent to me just the type of person he is (and mind you everybody else in his immediate family knew but failed to clue me in) I stopped being so damn amemable to his wants. Surprise, surprise!!! He stopped calling with his bull$h!t. He get a little attitude when I see him at family gatherings but so what. Stay mad.

Don't tell anyone when you get a bonus/raise/hit the lotto or anything like that. I find that the more info I keep to myself about my money, the less problems I have.
